We bought our caravan new in 2015. We have subscribed to Tracker for the past five years. We have just remembered that it is due for renewal end of July.We have received no renewal documents or anything from Tracker.
We have just rang up and been told our subscription has been cancelled as the unit is five years old.Tracker have not had the decency to let us know.
If we want to carry on with them then we need to buy a new unit at £248.The first years subscription is £58 and then £99 annually.
We feel we have been treated abominably, they don’t appear to want our business, just cancelled our subscription which we paid by DD and no notification.
Is this normal practice? Has anybody else had this problem? Are there better tracker companies? Do we really need one?
I had a similar experience with Phantom, in that case they hadn't been able to see the tracking device for over six months but had not bothered to tell me. It turned out that there was a change in the local mobile phone network and the sim in the Phantom was not connecting to the new mast which was a bit further away. They wanted me to pay for an engineer to attend, fit a new system and new sim and charge me for the lot! I did explain almost politely that I may as well remove the device from my caravan and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

Yes, I had the same experience from Tracker. Initial 5 year package was only £99 and I struck a deal with supplier at the time that they footed the cost, however 5 years on and Tracker clearly weren't interested in retaining any business. Costs outweighed any insurance benefits too, so like yourself, I binned the renewal.
Oh yea, and I also found out that Tracker had registered the wrong device with me too, so the service had been completely pointless anyway (and presumably for whoever had there unit registered against my account!!).
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
When we bought our van 2nd hand, decided that keeping the Tracker subscription at £150 per year wasn't worth it. Fitted a much cheaper tracker (£60) from Rewire Security instead - it's about £18 per year for the service, and uses about £3 per year of mobile data. Plus I can use it to keep an eye on the leisure battery remotely.
Tracker is as much use as a wet paper bag as you need to notify them if the caravan is stolen and by that time it is long gone. We have had a Phantom Tracker fitted and no issue.
