please can you advise me... each year I tow to Cornwall down the A30. I have a heavy old Swift Utopia and its always a real struggle towing up some of the long, high hills on route. I have an automatic Chrysler Voyager. Is it less hilly going the old way via Plymouth please? Thank you in advance. Siân
I wouldn't really know, never towed the old A38 way down to Cornwall (think its the A38 that goes through Plymouth)
I would imagine that over the whole trip it will probably even itself out, some parts on the A30 will be flatter while some parts on the A38 will be flatter.
I would say though the A38 seems to be a longer route, and you'll have to get onto the A30 eventually (somewhere around Fletchersbridge)

Just come down the A38 to Looe. I think the car will need a new clutch after the stop start on the hills. If I weren’t heading for the south there’s no way I’d use the A38.
