Due to personal circumstances 2019 was not a good year for our caravan trips with only one trip away which is a terrible waste when you consider all the costs involved in owning a caravan - then the lockdown - the same for all of us but it doesn’t make it any better.
But I am pleased to say that things are a lot better now - in the last month we have managed to get started again and are presently on our 3 rd trip in a month.
1st trip out was a long weekend at Shardlow Marina which is our favourite local site - then a long weekend at Dodwell Bridge in Stratford-upon-Avon which is another good local site for us.
This week we are down in Cornwall at St.Ives - it’s always a mammoth journey in August as the traffic both ways is horrendous but it’s all part of the holiday fun - with a couple of short stops for coffee it was a 9 hour journey.
The weather is decent and it’s great to be away in the caravan again.
Let’s hope we can all get some proper use of our caravans this year.
So let’s be careful - stay safe and enjoy our caravans.
i have just come back from two weeks trip up to durness.. lousy weather lots of wind and very cold but apart from that all went well with no problems..
Wish we could afford more trips than we do, as our financial situation is more restricting than Covid. Only generally manage a maximium of 4 weeks a year normally, but at least our caravan doesn't cost us anything when it is not being used apart from the insurance, but that's pennies. One 2 week holiday usually end of June/beginning of July, one 1 week holiday in mid-September, and the rest split into maybe a couple of 3 day breaks. This year so far nothing at all. Hoping to get a week in September, but it does all depend on how the virus infections go. We are watching very carefully to see the effects of each stage of restrictions lifting. Testing time might be if/when kids go back at the beginning of September.
Glad to hear that some others are enjoying themselves though, pleased to hear it!
So glad to hear that you've been able to enjoy some holidays in your van. We managed one long weekend in February before lockdown but have recently come back from 2 weeks in Cornwall (one week near St Austell and a second near Helford - both beautiful). We're hoping we can get away for the forthcoming bank holiday and again for our anniversary in October.
