Hi there, I was wondering if anyone can help me with the valuation of my 2001 BRITISH MADE ECO SMALL LIGHTWEIGHT 2 BERTH.

I purchased it in 2017, I have not touched the outside it is as was as far as I now from when it was originaly built on the underside of the caravan I have plate which says AL-KO Type B850-5/JN/99/5
LE40235 01/0f/1 Capacity 900E Over25km/h

From my understanding, this caravan was built in Blackpool by 2 brothers, and there where a not a lot made, so I am trying to find all this history on it, if it is the only on left, if it is 199 or a 2001 as stated in the advert when purchased and some sort of valuation.
As I have said the outside has not been touch except for re sealing, new rear lights, but have the old ones still. The inside layout is still the same as well but obviously we have tarted it up a bit. So if anyone can shed some light on this caravan for me I would be great full. I do now Andrew Jenkinson di a review on this caravan but he has never got back to me on any detail he is always to busy. So I am hoping someone else can help me I say thank you now

for its age check on the vin plate, which should be located either just inside the door frame, or on the a frame under the plastic covers, as for the rest i have never seen or heard of that caravan EVER

Could 5/JN/99 could signify manufactured in June 1999 and the completion date was the 5th. and 01 of 1 signify it was a prototype? If it was a prototype it will be difficult to value. Why not look for other manufacturers caravans of similar age and condition to get an idea of what prices they are going for

Hi so if it is a prototype, would it be worth more?, I have tried to get an idea of how much it is worth, but it is not a new caravan, and it is a year of, off be vintage if 1999 is the age so I am stuill not sure what price I should be valuing it at for insurance I think I have it under valued. I do now it is only worth what someone will pay for it. Thanks for your help

Hi this is the message I got from Andrew Jenkins he reviews or did reviews on caravans, you can see the date, I have tried getting in contact with him again and nothing. This was his reply to me re age etc

Andrew Jenkinson 18th July 2017
Hi well you have a very rare van, made just a few ex Lunar two brothers I did some reports on them - have attached a pic but this is the model before yours, yours was a 2000/01 model last built if I remember rightly I did a review on that will have it somewhere! I have vast archives but I am mega busy for next few weeks -

So I am still trying to find out info, I really want to now all about it for insurance purposes and now my husband has past I have the time to find out more

Looks like you researched this before.

I’m sure it has a value, but it won’t be much. I’ve a fairly old Carlight and it’s pretty immaculate but not worth much.

It’s worth about what you can get for it. If it’s got no leaks, and you want to sell it, now would be a very good time.

It’s not like the Antiques Road Show. Old caravans don’t sell particularly well. Obviously getting spares is the biggest problem for owners, so that may put buyers off. Someone wanting a wee van for a holiday might buy it.

Just don’t have high expectations I’d say, but see if others disagree. There is no Glass’s Guide for old, discontinued vans.

No I understand what you are saying, always been awareit is what people are prepared to pay for it. I t was more now hubby has passed away I wikll keep it, but I want to make sure I had the right value for insurance, as it in oneway is not replacable as the van does not exsist any more.
Robberies are getting worse even though I have two lots of security on it. For me the van is quirky and we have done the inside up together so it is more for memories, hopfully when we get past the new epedemic that is coming, I will be able to get pout and use the caravan. I have a VW T4 so use that for the odd weekend camp out. The caravan was for my husband as he had not been well for over 7 years, me if I go on a week or twos holiday then I will use it. retire next year so lets hope we have a more promising out look. Instead of camping in the garden lol
