Hi, different question slightly, beautiful van btw, just a caution if your husband has lost his C1 entitlement has he still got the b and e towing entitlement on his licence to be able to tow a van that heavy, I’m assuming you’ve got a hefty tow car to pull it,?

I must be naive, i am surprised such a cracking (and presumably expensive), has such a poor shower room. Our curtain used to wrap around us in the motorhome we had. Hence when we popped it in for a caravan, a full washroom was more important than anything else in there.

It could be that many overseas (German?) owners prefer to use the 'blocks', hence the need for 'wasted' space on a full washroom isnt there. You dont see too many water barrels outside foreign 'vans either.

We are new to caravanning as prior to buying this caravan we have owned various large motorhomes for the past 15 years. Sadly health issues has meant my husband has lost the C1 part of his licence, so driving a large motorhome is now no longer an option and we do not fancy changing to a small motorhome, so a decent size touring caravan was our preferred alternative.

The van we have purchased is a brand new Hobby 620CL.

sorry to be the one that asks this, but what vehicle are you using to tow that caravan with? as the caravan weighs 1900kg i would think you well into 4x4 types, which if as you say your hubby cant drive anything due to loss of c1 catorgy he would be exceeding with that combination

Rest assured folks we have treble checked everything regarding towing this caravan!

My husband passed his test before the 1st January 1997, so because of this he is perfectly legal to tow the set up we have. He requires a category B+E driving licence to tow our caravan which he still has on his licence despite losing the C1 part of his licence. We made absolutely sure we researched everything fully before committing to the purchase of our caravan and I can assure we have done everything required to the letter. We have also bought a new car; a BMW X5 M50d 3 Litre that we matched to the caravan via the CAMC tow car & caravan matching service.

Thanks for the advice though!

Some of the Hobby’s we looked at had some absolutely fabulous bathrooms with separate showers, so not all of them have wet rooms like ours has. However, we particularly fell in love with this one as it ticked all the boxes that were so important to us in so many other ways that we decided we were willing to make a compromise regarding the wet room. Not everyone’s choice I appreciate but for us it wasn’t a big issue and having a comfortable and spacious living, kitchen and bedroom space with access all around the transverse island bed were our main preferences.

It has an onboard water tank too, which again is something we wanted especially for winter use. We didn’t fancy our only water supply option being an aquaroll just in case the temps plummet and all we have is a barrel full of solid ice!

Can’t wait for our first trip away next week.

Ive looked on the Hobby website and weirdly the webpage doesn't mention a show, just washbasin and toilet. I also saw a review of the same van and when the cameraman showed the toilet area there again was no shower.

I'm guessing the shower attachment could be a "dealer special", if this is the case it could be that it will have to be something that you do yourself. Like others have suggested possibly some form of stick on hooks with which you attach a shower curtain to.

Hi Shaggy, yes I think you are correct. Our dealer fitted the extendable dual shower tap upon our request as it did not come as a standard fitting. It does the job and will be useful If needed but but most of the time we will be using onsite facilities, so I think we will manage to stay smelling fresh! lol

Think we will do as you suggest If ever we use the shower as we do not want to put anything permanently up in the washroom as it would probably just be in the way! We might just pop a temporary shower curtain up on some suction hooks if we use the shower ever just to prevent the whole room getting wet and then take it down afterwards.

Thanks for the idea.
