Hi I have just bought Bailey unicorn Madrid 2013 ...I would like to purchase an air awning, unsure what is best to get. I intend to tour with caravan with my two border collies and toddler Grandaughter. I would like an air awning, that is a good size..possibly maybe add bedroom annex in future. Curtains, carpet Ect, can anyone recommend anything.lakso recommend everything I need as I am new to touring( we had tourer many years ago).
Thanks for you help in advance
P.s I did hear that full awnings are not so easy to sit on track that might be rubbish but just asking
Hi
People on here will advise, but I think it depends on how fit you are,
Full air awnings are heavy and not easy to get into the awning rail for one person.
Easier if you buy the pulley system to help you.
I think any full awning will be very heavy, if i was you i would shop around and see what size will suit your needs. A half size awning still gives a lot of extra space.
Recently on campsites, i noticed very few full awnings, but lots of ‘ half size ‘ awnings.

First thing is to measure caravan from beside door to clear any window towards rear. Best not to cover a window with side wall of awning. Then you can research makers. I have a Kampa Air Pro 330, this does come half way along the bedroom window, but at the price I bought it for we can live with it, as bedroom has window the other side for ventilation. We also have an Isabella full awning, which we use for a week or longer. Not much difference putting up, full awning possibly a bit longer. Both need pegging down so no difference there really.

I can put up my poled full-awning on my own once the roof is up. The roof isn't heavy, but you need one person to pull while the other lifts bits past things like the awning light. You can't be in two places at once.
With a much smaller porch air-awning it was a real struggle to put it up with two of us. Only the pegging I could do on my own. I bought it thinking it would be easier, but no way! I'd never have another one.
We have a Kampa, lightweight, porch awning and it is an absolute doddle to put up on my own, far easier than a full awning, and a darne sight lighter and smaller. Would not bother with a full awning again, in fact I just got rid of two.
We have a Kampa 390 Air Pro Plus which includes the annexe as part of the main body of the awning. Fairly heavy in the bag, but superb.
Get the Gale pump and once in the rail it is up in 10 minutes. We were away last weekend with 50 mph winds and horizontal rain, I slept in the bedroom compartment. Very cosy, extremely stable and a big space. The added bonus is no poles and down and back in the bag in 15 minutes. A further tip is buy the limpets. Good luck......
