Our van has a BBQ gas point near front, awning side. To use this while awning was up would entail passing pipe out under awning sidewall. We would need a pipe about 3 meters or more to get BBQ to a safe distance from awning. How do others deal with this problem?

Edit to above... not only for bbq but we also have a campingaz double hob and grill that we set up outside for use in hotter climates; way more comfortable than cooking in the caravan.
We used to use a gas bottle fired Cadac BBQ set up ... and ... a roll out awning, not a 'room' type ... so BBQ could be sited anywhere ... but, got bored with constant cleaning etc ... so got an electric grill plate ... and an electric point on the outside of the van ... so much easier, cleaner and ... no gas cost as it works off the camp sites EHU.

What part did you clean? All i ever do with our BBQ is set the flames going, then run over the food rack with a wire brush to 'clean' it. No-one ever got charcoal poisoning! You will never get the inside of a BBQ clean without shot-blasting. Its baked on.
