I have a 2018 model Lunar fitted with a AKS 3004 stabiliser.
I want to buy a used ALKO hitch lock, but find there are two models of the style I need... “Type 1” & “Type 2”
I. suspect the type 1 is for earlier hitches, but unsure whether the type 2 is for earlier models too..
Trying to get information from ALKO customer services is a waste of time ime sorry to say.
Any advice?
What is important to remember is that any anti-theft device in only a deterrent. It will stop a casual theft, but nothing stops a determined professional caravan thief. I would tend to go for anything that looks substantial and in no way flimsy. Even the most expensive anti-theft device can be cut off with a torch or an angle grinder, and the professionals are sure to have one or the other with them, possibly both. More expensive is not necessarily any better.
Thank for the tip Dave.. but I like the idea that these particular models can be left attached whilst hitched to the car, also I know they’re very expensive to buy new, but I intend buying a used one.
Type 2 readily available, and a far superior product IMO.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
No probs at all, but be aware that there is now a school of thought against having the hitch permanently locked onto the towcar during transit in case of an accident/fire.
Dave.
------------- Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day,
Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for a whole weekend.
Please don't be under the misconception that it is safe to put a hitchlock on at services and just walk away, don't. Always leave someone with the unit.

Type 2 hitch locks are night and day better than the type 1 locks. Solid, heavy duty lump of metal compared to the earlier ones.
They're turning up second hand more regularly now, well worth hanging on for one.
