Hi and welcome. This is probably quite a good time to start looking as quite a few tend to come up in the run-up to Christmas, although this year may be a bit different.
We bought our caravan from a dealer as a trade sale about 3 or 4 years ago. It was old but in excellent condition and we were able to go away with it without doing a thing to it, although we have personalised it a bit since. It cost us £1,100, so they are out there. Ask any caravan dealer you know if they have any trade sales in, as they never advertise them. That's what we did.
What to buy is very difficult to answer as what suits one wouldn't suit another, but the one thing that is critical to look out for is damp. It kills more caravans than anything else, and takes an awful lot of work to get rid of. Any other problems are usually quite easily fixable.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin

Be aware that caravan lengths can be quoted for the internal body length or the overall length including the tow bar frame. Make sure you clarify which one is being used.
