Currently on our first trip away in our new to us caravan for the first time, and even with the heating on it is absolutely freezing. Windows are closed and we’re well wrapped up but still absolutely Baltic. Having been campers previously albeit in the summertime, we can’t ever remember it being as cold as this.
Genuinely thinking about packing up and going home being honest it’s that bad.

you are kidding me? something isnt right, are you sure its really that cold or just your mind playing tricks? what is the temp in your van? im sat here in north yorks with my patio doors open and windows open to get some air flow to cool down and no heating on at all

Welcome to UKCS.
We just put the thermostat at the comfortable temperature in the MH, blown air heating works well. In the previous old MH we had an oil filled heater and went camping when it was snowing. Not sure why your heating isn’t heating you and wondering where you are because it’s not Baltic outside here, never mind inside.

If your heating isnt warming a few square foot of caravan, its not working. Even the old gas fire heaters used to get the van toastie in ten minutes. You need it looking at for sure.

For a quick heat up, switch to the gas heating. The difference is very noticeable.

Is it blow air heating? Check the setting isn't on cold/fan.

All good now we went and bought a fan heater, going to get the gas system all checked out, it was supposed to have been serviced only in September so not sure what’s wrong

The gas fire has to have a source of ignition to light the pilot flame which comes from the leisure battery. If you haven't got a leisure battery connected up or it's low on voltage that could be the problem why the gas fire won't work. A service engineer will use their own leisure battery to conduct the necessary checks and ensure that the gas fire is functional and safe then disconnect their battery when complete. If the caravan was serviced in September, the gas fire should be working okay providing you have the source of ignition active and the corresponding 12 volt power switched ON.

Had a similar problem with gas fire blocked jet... it was so feeble.

Once cleaned that fire was roasty toasty.

Check the shut-off valve on the fire's supply line. Some service personnel have a habit of shutting all the valves off at the end of a service (Health & Safety I suppose).

Not sure what your heater is but if it has the option of only having heat coming out of the heater rather than via the blow air ducts it will warm up much quicker.

Also, if the air ducts go under the caravan rather than through it, they can lose a lot of heat to outside.

Has the OP said just what heating is involved? Surely, if its a fire, you would know if it was on or not.
