Are there reasons (apart from damp) why a dealer would reject our 7 year old caravan? There is nothing drastically wrong and we have a full service record. There are things like the lights in the lockers don't work, light missing from one wardrobe (must have been stolen by a servicer), minor dents etc to outside (which we told them about), awning light not working properly.

Sounds odd - have they seen it or was it just from your description? Maybe they don’t get much call for your type of caravan and think it would take a long time to sell, or they’ve got a lot of used caravans in stock and don’t want any more? They obviously aren’t bothered about selling you one though.

Seems odd. Perhaps demand for new caravans is such that they don't have to discount them? Have you asked them?

You'll probably get a better price for it privately anyway.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear, they haven't rejected it, I am just asking if they would reject it for the reasons given above, handover, if it happens, is next week. In the meantime, the house if full of stuff from the caravan, including some things we had for gotten about.

I know we could get a better price privately but don't need the hassle.

By handover do you mean you take yours and go home with new one?
If so in this day that is a bit unusual as they would normally take yours up to a week beforehand to give it a good going over, then knock you down on the trade in value.

its highly likely that they will try to give you the lowest price they could get away with, after all its all profit to them, its down to you to push them higher up and get the deal your wanting, no doubt their would be things wrong with the "new" caravan so make sure you go over it with a very fine toothcomb to find them, then its just a game of who buckles first

The dealer told us that we had damp and wanted to redcue the price. Luckily I had the invocie showing that a damp report had been done the week before and told them to contcat the other dealer. The lower price disappeared but I must admit I wish we had walked away as the brand new caravan was a heap of poo and gave us endless problems!

The mover does not add any extar value to a trade in as they go by the Glass guide for trade in value.

This was way back in 2016 so sorted now as got a replacement caravan after rejecting the other one.

I think that as long as you told them about the "issues" with your caravan before they gave you a trade-in price, then they should stick with that price - assuming nothing else turns up when they look over it.

Our dealer has usually given us a price for the trade in unseen and also given a price with no trade in along with a suggested price for a private sale. We could then go away and try to sell privately for a better price. If we couldn't they would take it in PX.

On the day of hand over they would get someone from the workshop to give ours the once over without us being aware of it. If all was well we got the agreed price. They weren't overly fussy as the PX price was based on a typical van of that age.
