Bought one when present caravan was new. Used it once and then sold it. Have had caravans for 49 years now and never suffered towing damage. The cover was a pain in the ars- when wet after towing and arriving on site.

After stones damaged the front of our caravan we will never be without the front towing cover. We have a Specialised Elite towing cover and it is very easy to fit. There is a video on their website showing how it should be fitted.

They have to offer protection, it stands to reason. I would be scared to death of it coming loose halfway down the motorway. The carnage it could cause doesn't bear thinking about.

We had a Specialised Tow Pro Elite and when fitted was as tight as a Gnats chuff on the van.

They are a premium cover and I could fit it myself.
When we traded the van in, I sold the cover privately and decided not to bother with one for the new van.

The quite rightly then the dim witted person who fitted the front towing cover should be responsible for all the carnage and charged for all the damaged caused. Towing covers are so easy to fit and impossible for them to come off while towing as they slide into the awning rail and are also secured underneath plus a strap under the A frame.

So they cant come off if they are put on right? Just like a van cant jump its hitch if its put on right. Accidents happen, mate. But point taken.

Apart from possible damage of flying rocks, with a towing cover fitted the van arrives nice and clean. No squashed beasties to clean off the windows, no mud that has been thrown up from your rear wheels. Ours takes about 10 minutes to fit. As for "49 years now and never suffered towing damage" long may it continue

It clearly says on all the ones that I have ever looked at that they are transit covers only and not for permanent use. So when I went to check my son's van in storage I wonder why I counted no less than 8 vans parked up all with them fitted!!

People do not realise that when parked up, dust, dirt, leaves etc all accumulate behind the towing cover and cause even further damage to the front with fine scratches on the windows.
