Hello Everyone
I've just had my annual renewal quote for our van and it has increased by £200+ with Towergate. Even after a telephone call to them and a negotiation the premium is still over £100 more than last year. We don't tour with our van, we keep it on a permanent pitch in Europe and travel back and forth to it.
I'm unhappy with this huge increase from Towergate, who I have used for several years, so I'm not putting the premium increase down to one of these new customer discount incentives from last year.
Does anyone else have a similar policy where their caravan is kept abroad outside of the UK for 365 days per year? I'm reluctant to use price comparison websites as they just return general results which you then have to trawl and work through the policy wording to find how much European cover is included.
Please could someone offer advice and help
Best regards
I had a big increase from Tower Gate too. We keep the van in secure storage here but do spend a few months touring.
My price increase was ,I felt, ridiculous.
I called CMC and got new for old cover with 6 months Eu cover for way less.(£200 less).
The lady was extremely helpful and thorough.
I didn't even bother going back to Towergate to negotiate.
We had been with them a long time.
Unfortunately CMC don't cover for vans kept overseas.

Hi
Is it Spain where your van is sited? If so and you have a year long contract try Linea Directa, or Catalan Occidente. Both Spanish firms that will comprehensively cover your van as a static residence. Insurance is cheap in Spain. I pay 170 euros a year for my 40 foot fifth wheel trailer.
You don't need to speak Spanish either, both firms will have an English speaker, just ask "Tu hablo Inglese" on the phone.

You got off lightly. Our quote increased by nearly £400! TBH I think they are trying to dump caravan insurance as many people have complained about the huge jump in premiums by Towergate.
Try Myinsurance or Ripe Insurance for a decent quote!
The Camping and Caravanning Club do insurance for vans kept overseas - we changed to them from Towergate after a huge increase in premiums a couple of years ago. We are members, but don't think you have to be to get insurance through them.
I tried the Clubcare offering and had an awful quote off them. I eventually got a brilliant policy and quote from Safeguard, which was less money than my premium last year. It excludes touring, the only towing cover I get is to move my caravan from its permanent pitch to a service centre and back for a service. This suits me fine
