Hello guys.
I've got a 2 berth caravan it's in the garden just now, anyway in strong winds both my skylights got blown away which left holes obviously lol, but it took me a couple days to notice and with winds, rain etc.
All the inner roof was wet and still alittle soft.
What is the best options now to completely seal off the roof.
I've got a taurpoline sheet over top just now, seems to keep the rain etc out.
I've looked at flashband tape, builders tape, fibreglass.
Any help and advise would be great

Can you not get replacements? They are usually fairly standard sizes for most makes and ages. You can order them online, and they are not that difficult to fit. I did both of mine from inside the caravan. A good place to try is Kenmore Caravans;

kenmorecaravans.co.uk

Other than proper replacements you are probably already doing the best thing you can do.

Hi colin.
I got told that the wood inside the caravan is rotted due to the amount of water. A caravan camp site told me that I would have to replace the full roof but not got a spare 2k.
Was thinking of using it as a wee get away from the kids, or the kids could go in with friends etc.
Just looking in sorting the roof and saving for another caravan

In that case I think I would be inclined to just try and get hold of some pieces of scrap aluminium to put over the holes. You could fix them down with sealant tape sold for sealing caravan rooflights. It's sold on a roll and you stick it down, peal the backing off, then put the plate on top of it. It really sticks!

Incidentally, £2k would definitely not be worth spending anyway. My caravan cost me £1,100 nearly 4 years ago, and I got it from a local dealer as a trade-sale. Worth checking out as they don't usually advertise them or display them. I just went in and asked if they had any, and they did. They showed us one, my wife fell in love with it immediately, and we bought it. It's old, but in good condition and we've had some great holidays with it. End of the season is the best time to buy, but you could be lucky now. Prices usually rocket come the spring though.

Hi colin.
That's great I've got some scrap metal, I bought mine for a few hundred but never towed before that was my main intention.
After this year I'm getting a tow bar fitted to my mondeo hopefully she is powerfull enough,
But need to get this wee one sorted.
The inner roof was dripping with water all summer I did my best, but once sorted hopefully better.
Thanks mate

No problem. Your Mondeo should be capable of towing something, depending on the model, and there are plenty of matching sites online that can tell you what you could tow with it. There should be a plate on the car somewhere that gives the maximum towing weight anyway so it shouldn't be difficult to find out.

Towing isn't difficult once you get used to it, and if you are unsure about it there are courses you can go on. Watch your licence though if you passed your test after 1997, as there is a lower weight restriction after that.

Ahh ok I knew about weight restrictions. So with car and caravan not exceed 3.5ton.
Give me around 750kg so a 2 berth is totally fine.
My mondeo is a 1.6cdti 135bhp.
I've been told its fairly easy just understanding turning points etc.
I'm hoping it saves me money instead of going away abroad every year mate.
Will look for some tape for the caravan roof.

Are you certain about the 750kg, that seems a bit low for a Mondeo, particularly a diesel. If you can find a 2 berth and you are happy with it, should be fine though. Older caravans are usually lighter than the more modern ones, mine is a 4 berth and it's under 1,000kg. Tows like a dream with my 2008 X Trail, you hardly know it's there.

Reversing is the trickiest bit. Find a big empty car-park and practice, that is the best way. You will need some extension mirrors, but there is plenty of choice there.

Anything you need to know just ask on here, there are plenty of people with loads of experience, and there's no such thing as a stupid question.
