Having specified water treatment equipment I am quite aware UV is a steriliser as I have already said.
I am also very aware, as an example, algae, can still develop in clear plastic tube. Others here might have come across a darkening of their water pipes, that grey slime.

That slime build up JTQU - is that not why we are advised to, and SOME of us do, flush our systems with the likes of Puriclean to both sterilise and shift bacteria harbouring slime from pipes and fittings?
Am I missing something here? I'm certainly struggling with the resistance to engage in well publicised good practice!

Whilst you can "kill" it, effectively sterilising it, it is very unlikely you will other than mechanically remove all of the residual detritus by flushing at the flow rates obtainable.
As a spin off of my involvement, I will not drink or allow "mine" to drink unboiled water from our or anybody's caravan water system. Not that I think the risks are high, just unwise and something so readily avoidable. Even boiled drinking water we would tend to take from a refilled water bottle unless impractical.

To be fair, there are some extremely slack practices among a lot of caravanners/motorhomers; ive seen them fill water tanks/bottles from the hose you shove in the cassettes before today. Yet we dont see or hear of droves of people coming down with cholera etc. We humans have a lot more immunity than we think.
