Thanks for all your input guys.👍
Eventually went down this route....XV31MF ENDUROLINE CALCIUM LEISURE BATTERY 12V.
From Tayna..delivered next day, around £95. wanted the 115 however out of stock so they recommended this
Must remember to take off and maintain this one, don't want to be buying new every year.😱
Thanks once again guys 👍
I have heard that Tayna are very good, several others on here have recommended them. Hope that is the case with yours. Unfortunately for me the company I bought most of my batteries from since I had my first car back in 1966, went out of business 2 or 3 years ago. They used to make their own batteries on the premises, although not for many years, and had been around since at least the 1940s. Their place was opposite my primary school when I went there in the 1950s. The little motor accessory shop near me, who also used to do good batteries, went about 2 or 3 years ago too. Maybe I'll try Tayna next time I need one.
I see Tanya still have the small Lucas 75a/h leisure battery for 63quid. I had one of these on my previous caravan for several years no probs. I removed battery in winter & charged monthly with Aldi smart charger I bought yrs ago. Battery should not be left in unused caravan over winter uncharged particularly in freezing conditions.
In all the caravans we've had it's always been Tayna.

That is exactly what I do, even down to using an Aldi smart-charger I've had for years. You are right about not leaving the battery in the caravan over winter. Batteries have been known to freeze and crack the casing. Then when they thaw they leak acid all over the place. That is on top of the fact that a battery left in a discharged state will be useless anyway.

For a great many years I always used Bush batteries, but sadly that very old company is no longer in business. I can still remember seeing them being made on the premises. Their original premises was a shop opposite my school, and you could look through the windows and watch them being put together in black rubber cases with big metal strips on the top linking the cells.
Ours was in the van last winter and was OK. We store undercover but there are translucent panels on the storage roof. Our solar panel seemed to keep it charged ok.
Its coming out at the beginning of April for a service so hope its OK.
