Well, you and OP are neither right nor wrong there tango55! The company was originally known as Powrwheel, harking back to it's origins of powered jockey wheels, changing it's name to Powrtouch some time after introducing the Powrtouch Motor Movers.
That OP title/description may be an indicator of just how old this unit is, as no other info on it's model variant given, which may have a bearing on relevant advice.
As to fixing OP's problem. Suggest visiting Powrtouch website FAQ, in first instance, if that doesn't help, they have a very good reputation for product support, so an email or phone call may give a solution.

Few things to check out.
Check the warning lights and error codes on the control unit.
Leisure Battery voltage, and condition of all MM related cabling and connectors, including voltage at control unit, low volts can cause erratic behaviour.
Check that the aerial wire from the control unit is undamaged, and not shielded by any metallic objects that would interfere with radio signal.
Check correct function of control unit and remote handset by using the umbilical cord to bypass radio link.

On my later Evolution model, you reset the control unit by switching it off from the master power/isolator switch for 20 sec or more. It reboots itself from scratch on power up.
By that, i assume you mean turning the red key off/on again? I meant, if the remote stops 'communicating' and somehow ends up out of tune with the box despite the key reset. I thought there was a reset button to press to 'align' the two. Maybe not, nowadays.

What you are referring to with the 'reset button' is not resetting the control unit, but mapping (matching) the remote control to the control unit. Yes there is a hidden (down a small hole - use a thin tool to activate) remote control re-mapping switch on my unit, but AFAIK it only re-maps the remote-controller, not resets anything else. If the remote has totally lost contact with the controller, this may fix it, but not sure it would do anything to fix an intermittent connection, but as a no cost, low risk option, it may be worth a try, if nothing else as a fault elimination procedure. There is a main unit/remote control procedure to follow as described in the user manual.
