I have been a member of C&CC since 2007, and joined CAMC last year as I needed to book one of their club site for an event in September 2021 (I have changed from a tent to a tin tent this year).

Too early to tell if I would keep both memberships yet, and shall wait a year or two before I decide.

So far, I have found CAMC's website a lot easier to use than C&CC, especially for reservations and managing my bookings, with no reservation fee required and I can make changes online; whereas C&CC requires 25% deposit and one has to ring them in order to make booking amendment or cancellation.

The best time to join any club is at a show when they offer the best deals Most private sites offer cheaper prices per night then club sites

I am a member of the C&CC, and would not join the C&MC because they don't charge a deposit for booking. This encourages greedy members to make multiple bookings then cancel the ones they don't want at the last minute, thus blocking those sites from other members who might have wanted to actually go there. Charging a deposit stops this selfish practice, or at least discourages it.

We don't always use club sites though, we just go to the site that suits us best at the time. We tend to only book a matter of days or sometimes a couple of weeks ahead.

Colin

A lot depends on your age as the Camping & Caravanning Club offer discounts to the over 55's on all of their club sites but the Caravan & Motorhome Club doesn't which makes it more expensive which we found out when we joined 3 years ago. We never used the C&MC sites at all for this reason so after two years membership resorted back to the C&CC once again.

I'm very glad to hear it, I never did like that practice as it just seemed so greedy and selfish. Can you not book more than one at a time now then, or how does it work?

There is another reason why I wouldn't join the C&MC though, and that's because their sites are too regimented for us. We prefer small sites with random grass pitches, as opposed to hard standings which all tend to be in neat rows either side of a roadway. I know some C&CC sites are regimented, but not our favourite ones.

yes, you can book as many sites as you like , but not at the same period, with the same membership number.

i agree with that part, also most of the sites are too expensive, we mostly use C.L.s, or club sites without facilities

That does not stop This encourages greedy members to make multiple bookings then cancel the ones they don't want at the last minute,.

Not all the problems were members booking multiple sites for the same period, there was and are members booking sites for various dates then cancelling a few days before for whatever reason they have for not going.
That still screws up others wanting to go, who need more than 72 hours' notice, to take the cancelations.

We are members of the CaMC only because they have more CL's in the area we most commonly caravan.
Other than that we are also members of the CSMA/Boundless and attend lots of their rallies.
