Hi
Sited my caravan ready for use later in the year however the front end I believe I will struggle to get the Awning to touch the ground. Thinking of using ladder straps to peg it down then add windbreaker around area so it hides its uneven. Is there anything like an Awning skirt extension that I could purchase.
Any advice or solution would be appreciated
Thanks
assuming the ground is a continuous slope , then the awning will be too near the ground at the back , so just move it further round the rail till its even at both ends, you could alter the height of the poles at the awning pole side to make it look less lopsided, but that runs the risk of the material being slack in some places, an can hold water

you could buy some sticky backed velcro, and stick another piece on to the awning. Maybe a piece of wheel arch cover (This would be my choice if van cannot be turned)
Or buy a couple of railway sleepers from b&q or the likes..they sell em around 2mtr - 2.5 mtr.
drive a couple of wooden steaks into the ground to secure em, screw them. then affix awning to the timber at that end.
When a caravan is on level ground, the distance to the ground at each end is roughly equal therefore the distance reduced at one end will increase at the other because the distance from ground to ground measurement will be the same. The only difference will be is that the centre point of the awning roof will be shifted towards the front slightly which will compensate for the offset at each end. Basically, it shouldn't end up with a gap at the front end like you think it will.
Just a thought but perhaps look at this a bit differently. Is the awning the problem or is it the pitch ? Can you live with that downhill pitch all season ? As soon as you step out of your caravan everything is downhill & away from caravan. Every time you step out you will feel like you are falling forward & you are more likely to fall & hurt yourself. I find a downhill pitch annoying just for a few days. Can you put up with it all season ? Does the site not have a more level pitch available ?
If you are putting up an awning you obviously want to sit inside it & it will be downhill all the way. You will sit there & feel annoyed. My experience anyway.
Deepest awning skirt I have seen is 75cm drop which should be sufficient. You would need a length to run from in front of caravan wheels & around front of awning. It would not look too good though.
The bigger problem is the awning roof will be very prone to pool in the uphill section; tolerable if you are always about to broom it off from inside, but the pool of water building up in the catenary could rip the awning or buckle the poles if unattended.
Seen one rip from just this, right there in front of me, literally seconds after noticing the pond as I walked towards the unit.
I just wouldn't accept that pitch. Everything in the awning will be on a slope - as already eluded to, no matter the orientation of the van. And the awning being prone to getting winds under it, and being generally to cock anyway. I'd ask for a pitch where you don't need one leg longer than the other, or move sites.

Our full Isabella awning is at this place now being made a bit smaller. They put a new zip in our porch Isabella awning a couple of years ago, they are really good. You can post it to them, we managed to drop ours off as we live about 6 miles away.

Ive got to say that is a shocking pitch, especially as it looks like its a hard standing one, so there is no reason for such a bad slope, its that bad you'll need a few steps to be able just get through the door of your van.
Tell the owners that site isn't acceptable and ask to be changed or turn the van 90 degrees.
If you stay on that pitch you'll never be able to sit inside the awning and eat a meal on a table, everything will want to slide off.

but how could he turn the van 90 degrees? then the awning would be on tarmac.
interesting o.p. has'nt replied for above a week.

It would still be no good with caravan turned 90deg. The ground at front would fall away. I hate pitches like that. You feel you are falling out of the caravan door. Ok you can put up with it for a few days on a crowded site with little else available but not all season.
I guess the op has left the thread because there is no suitable answer to his question. The awning is not the problem it is the pitch & maybe he is stuck with it ?
To be fair the pitch looks really small all round, the little bit of grass is right at the side of the next pitch and it looks like it's sloping down to that one.
is the pitch not a full hard standing pitch so your van should be at the back of the pitch and the strip of grass in front of your van is just the divider between pitches? so you van and awning are on the hard standing

but i can't remember the question !!!
