hi all, the time has come for our first trip in our caravan.
we are pretty much sure we have everything and read most stuff so hoping a weekend away in york will be a good start to learn the van.
one question is about the toilet. do we put the blue stuff in and water before we go or once pitched up, guess once there and how much do we put in.
any hints tips would be great.
thanks and enjoy the summer people

Water up when you get there. The water sloshes around when the van bounces up and down, if you do have a leak the blue stuff makes a mess.

We set it up with blue in the base and just a couple of glasses of water in the top tank, this is so if it's needed on route it's ready for action.   Top tank gets filled when on site. To fill flush tank I use a funnel. As for how much additive that's on the bottle depending what type of additive you use.

Some bottles have measure on cap, Some Thetford toilet bases have a measure on the cap, otherwise best guess.

Half full of water in the top tank & put your chemical or bio wash liquid in the waste tank saves using public bogs enroute.

I don't suppose it makes a huge difference, if you have them charged before trip or on site.
Me personally, I always travel with top tank empty..Bottom tank just two cap fulls of blue. Thats just to swill around the tank whilst travelling. It's no big deal to fill up on site.
I just do it this way incase any leaks, spillages, impeller gets jammed. etc.etc. (See video)below
You may need some tin foil when empty - ing.

We usually put a little blue in the waste tank and a small amount in the top in case it's needed en route.

Not used the chemicals for years. I just put a bit of diluted bleach in and it smells great 👌
It can get smelly if you don't empty for a couple of days so I just put more bleach in, it's diluted with all the waste so no problems.
At 60p/litre it's my kind of price 😆

All the sites we stay at use mains sewerage.
