I've just picked up our new caravan yesterday and I've left the motormover on the tyres and not off them .. what's the best thing to do take it off the tyres or can I leave it on .. currently I've left it on as a security measure.. the control is off .. I just mean the motormover on the wheel

Personally, I would not leave my motor mover engaged with the wheels. Just think of all that pressure in one spot of the tyres.

If you leave the mover rollers engaged when not in use, long term they will undoubtedly create an impression on the surface of the tyre tread very much the same as having a flat spot at the base of the tyre if left for long periods without being moved. I think you will also find in the motor mover manual that it tells you to not to engage the rollers when not in use as well.

they make a very effective brake.. i use mine this way and only take it off when the wheels are chocked and the van is secure.. when temporally parking on slopes i would leave it on..

So what's the best leave it on or take it off.. the only reason I asked is I think it's a security measure as it's on our driveway .. and would be a added security device .. but I don't want to damage the tyres at the same time

We never leave ours against the tyres, once van is chocked we release the mover.

Me personally, I don't leave mine on..
If you are thinking just for security!...Why not remove a wheel, one that's visible from the street. USE axle stands etc.etc...
No scrotum is going to attempt thieving a van with no wheels..( you wouldn't think so anyway).😉

Just a thought....

As a security measure it's of little value as the thieving scrote will easily overcome it by using a similar tool to yours to undo it. Long term pressure on one spot on each tyre will as previously said, will result in a low spot and therefore vibration when towing.

In my opinion you would be best get a proper wheel clamp, plenty of good second-hand ones around on Preloved, Gumtree and eBay for not a lot of money.

Why would you leave the mover and the tyre under stress? Also false to think leaving it on is a security messure. As mentioned get a good wheel lock/clamp and double up with a hitch lock. You could also get steady locks.
