Hi, looking for up to date opinions as most previous posts go back years.

Bio liquid for caravan loo!

Main cassette or flush tank or both?
Opinions on use versus traditional blue and pink.

I believe that's where the Bio washing liquid goes, in the holding tank. I'm seriously thinking of swapping over to that when our blue stuff runs out.

I've not heard of the conditioner in the flush tank before Jim, it may be fine but I wonder whether it may be prone to mould growth after a while as in our washing machine tray?

I got fed up of the 'chemical' smell from all the branded stuff. I've tried them all, and they all smell the same. So nowadays its an ASDA washing machine capsule down the pan after every empty. And a small glug of fabric cond./lenor goes in the top tank. No more 'festival/portaloo' aromas in the van each time the loo is used.

If using the toilet just for wee's then I only use bio washing liquid - cheap is just as affective as brand names. Choose whatever brand you like the scent of. If using toilet for 1's and 2's then I use Elsan Blue and add bio washing liquid to the cassette. The washing liquid keeps the cassette tank clean and it also seems to reduce the 'gases'.

Lidl bio wash liquid about a waste tank capful. Plain water in the flush tank. You can use the wash liquid for hand washing clothes as well so less bottles to clutter the place up.

I use about 3/4 capful fabric conditioner in the top tank these days. Much better smell and it does not seem to leave any black bits in the flush tank. When I have used up the Elsan green that we have at present, I will try the bio wash liquid in the bottom tank.

We tried the bio laundry liquid last summer and to be honest, I wasn’t completely happy with how it broke down the toilet paper compared to Elsan blue. However, I find the smell of of the blue chemicals very strong and not pleasant so we tried a compromise of half the amount of blue prescribed on the bottle and half a cap of the bio laundry liquid. This seemed to be a good compromise for us as the toilet paper was well broken down and the smell was much better.

This year I have decided to try the camperlife cherry scented blue and so far it seems good. You only use a tiny amount of it compared to other blues, I think it is just 25ml per tank and the smell is not chemically. We have only used it a few times so far so I haven’t formed a firm opinion yet but so far, so good.

One bottle of Elsan Organic does both tanks, and no chemical smell.
Been using it for years and find it very good.

Thetford stuff is easily the most smell offensive, never again. I certainly don't think they all smell the same.

Like the chemicals, some will work better than others. (but to me, all the chemicals smell like, well...chemicals.) As for the bio stuff; number one, it has to eliminate odour. two; it has to at least begin breaking stuff down. Thats it. Some want the cassette contents virtually pureed, but i cant see why this would be as long as it empties out easy enough. The ASDA pods we are now on do both admirably.
