Hi does anyone know about leaving your caravan at he same site for the summer season? If so what are the costs ? What would the costs be to leave it on the site all year??

You can get seasonal pitches at many sites and they are a good idea if you want to, and are able to, visit the site on a regular basis. It is impossible to give a blanket figure for costs as they vary enormously, just like normal daily pitch prices. Obviously the more popular sites will be much more expensive than those on less well frequented sites. It is probably best to look at sites in areas that you want to find a seasonal pitch, and you can do that on here by going to "site search".

What you are talking about is called a seasonal pitch. Different sites have different seasonal dates so some have seasonal pitches open for 11 or even 12 months of the year while others offer seasonal pitches for a shorter time, often 1st March to 31st October. Many of these sites also offer winter storage when the site is closed so people on seasonal pitches can leave their caravans over the winter.

We thought about a seasonal pitch a while back and discovered that very few advertise their prices so you have to phone them to find out. The ones I looked into varied in cost from about £2000 for a March to October season right up to nearly £5000 but I can’t remember what length that season was. Price will depend on the location of the site and what facilities they offer. Also, be aware that some include electric in their price but others charge for electric separately via a meter so it can be difficult to compare prices. If you plan to use the site in the winter time, metered electric could be quite expensive in cold weather if you are running the heating on electric.

The thing we also discovered is that most of them are full and have long long waiting lists for seasonal pitches so if you are looking for one for the future, the sooner you get your name on the waiting list for the site you like, the better!
