I cancelled a week on a ccc site after having a heart attack,I gave them 4 weeks notice but still lost my deposit, many sites given 4 days notice return the deposit, ccc sites arnt cheap and you pay over £40 to be a member, I am starting to think is it worth being a member.

How did you cancel if you did not phone them, as that's only option I know?

Losing the deposit does seem a little mean if you ask me. Under your circumstances.
Seems very little compassion on the CCC site there!
Get well soon, all the very best👌

Would it be possible to move your booking to a future date instead?

I have only ever lost the deposit on one booking many years ago when I cancelled the day before arrival due to unforeseen circumstances, and did not think about requesting it to be moved instead, DOH!

The CC&C is a shambles nowadays. Having to phone to cancel or amend is archaic. Especially as at present when they are all sat at home in their PJ's, cramming donuts. I think they have lost sight of their customers needs. Its a shame, as it was a much better and easy-going club than the CAMC to belong to. Not any more.

Give them a ring or send an email to explain. They may be sympathetic.

First of all, I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you will be able to go touring again when you are able to. I'm absolutely appalled at reading this. Having read subsequent posts and reading that you cancelled 25 days beforehand, instead of the "required" 30 days, surely in the circumstances you should have got your deposit back. I'd ring them and explain the situation again, if they are the "friendly club" as they claim they are, I'd expect them to be sympathetic. Surely with 25 days notice, they will be able to sell your pitch again, with UK staycations pitches are at a premium, we're forever reading about people wanting to book pitches and not being able to do so.

Good luck.

It's sad that you have to deal with this in your current state of health, I hope you are making a good recovery. There seems to be very little flexibility in the way that the C&CC deal with such circumstances. I think I would put it in writing explaining the circumstances and see if they are more sympathetic using that route. I assume you would be happy to move the booking to a later date, perhaps another thing to explore.

I would write directly to Director General, Sabina Voysey or Director of Operations, Darren Whittington and explain your situation. Sometimes a letter to a named person at the top has more impact that just writing/speaking to a general person in customer services.

Thank for your replìes, unfortunately since I came out of hospital I've been having severe breathing problems, and my pulse and blood pressure is very low, some is the tablets I'm on that are being changed but having more tests done including a ECG tomorrow, normally I would phone them up but where I am now I don't have the energy to bother,I am more concerned about getting my breathing right and getting away again,

Hi Alan

Sorry to hear that your recovery is not going as quickly as one might hope. Take care and I hope you’re feeling much better soon.

Had similar issue to you, but not from heart attack. I emailed people if I had issues or got OH to speak to them to resolve any issues.
