We have our fridge on gas and it keeps going out but the light stays on. Have a full gas bottle any ideas?
Many thanks in advance

If you have recently connected a new full bottle of gas it's most likely an airlock in the pipe so try lighting the cooker first to see if the gas is coming through and then try lighting the fridge afterwards. Also you need a fully charged leisure battery connected for the source of the ignition.

Thank you. We have had the gas bottle since our last outing and it was a bit intermittent then. But after a couple of hours it stayed on. Battery was fully charged before we came and have solar panel also. Hubby has also connected to the car, but still the same problem. We are scratching our heads at this point

I recently had a problem with my Dometic fridge, it would not operate on gas. Read somewhere that the thermocouple is very low voltage and requires a good earth connection to complete it circuit. I followed this up.

Found the gas burner held in with one screw undoing this and easing the burner forward (gas connection still in place) found some scale on the matting faces between the burner and the main body. Cleaned these with a bit of emery paper, put back the burner and tightened up the screw and it went through he start up and the flame stayed on so it looks like this has cured it for me.

Need to do a long term test. If that does not work other issues are soot on the burner causing the flame to not burn cleanly and the thermocouple failing and needing replacing, if it is the thermocouple in most cases it will require removal of the fridge to get at the control valve.

We've got a Dometic fridge and had problems with it igniting on gas when we first bought the caravan. People were saying it was likely to be that the thermocouple needs replacing or it could be cobwebs around the burner or could be this and could be that so just got it serviced rather than tinker about with it. The problem was instantly sorted as it was nothing more than a misaligned burner which I wouldn't have detected anyway. The problem is that there are many things that CAN go wrong so my advice is to get it tested by a qualified engineer as they are professionals in tracing faults and know how to rectify them.
