Thanks for the reminder.
As soon as I heard about the move, I decided to escape to Europe and am planning a 2-week trip in France and Netherlands (the latter will include a trip to meet up with my current and ex work colleagues).
I camped during the last double BH in June 2012, and swore I would never do that again, as it was too crowded for my liking.

Thanks Path20 now I know when to avoid! We never go anywhere on a bank holiday. Even when I was working I used to avoid them. Being a train driver I used to opt to work the bank holidays as I got quite a bit extra pay on them, plus a day off in lieu which I could take whenever I wanted. I could then go away when everyone else was working.

Many with families have no choice but to book half term if they want an early getaway Colin.

Sadly that's very true. I did have some jobs where I would have been in the same boat, particularly when our kids were in school. Long since retired now though, and I'm not a great lover of crowds, so I'm just pleased to be able to avoid busy times. I spend my bank holidays in our back garden or going for a walk around the local lakes. It's a beautiful area where I live but not many people seem to know about it.
