Looking to purchase a new van but the only one we can find is a demonstrator (2021 model) that is probably already 6months old. Could we expect to negotiate a discount? I am of course aware of the general shortage of new vans.

You need to look in the Glass's caravan guide at a dealer for that year model as it may already be discounted. Once you see the book price for a 2021 model then you will know if it's over priced or not. It gives you grounds to negotiate then if it is.

I would imagine that this is not a good time to buy a caravan, but a very good time to sell one, I think October 2022 will be a very good time to buy a caravan.

Bailey send out a new model to main dealers as a preview and people write suggestions on how it may be improved. Often lots of little things. Many end up in the production models. Make sure it's not one of these unless it's a very big discount.
