We have recently purchased a Kampa Revo Zip Roll Out Awning in a bag plus a privacy/ safari room to fit it along with a pair of rear upright poles to create a seal between the caravan and the awning. However, one of the rear poles will need to go over the caravan window and there’s no way to avoid this as we cannot slide the awning across any further. Unfortunately, the window is not a flat window it is slightly curved so the pole won’t fit in front of it. Has anyone else had the same problem and if so, have you come up with an alternative solution for this problem. The pole fits perfectly on the other end so it’s just the window end that is the problem. Thank you in anticipation.

yes use pipe foam insulation on the pole and double it up to press the edge to the caravan

Hi, is the awning new or 2nd hand? if new could you exchange for a different size?
As for the rear pole, is there any surplus material to the side panels that makes it possible to fasten the edge to the caravan with Kampa Limpets as you would with an ordinary awning, it won't make it a great fit but may be better than nothing.
It is always advisable to check for windows when measuring for an awning, not really helpful when you've already brought one.

GM, it's not a normal awning it's the type that hangs in a bag on the awning rail.

I doubt there's much that can be done.

We have the Thule version but don't have any add ons, so not sure if the Thule system uses rear poles or not.

BE, yes I know it's a roll out awning, but the privacy panels will have a means to attach to the rear poles and front legs.kampa - if you look at the inside photo that goes over a window and you may just get a couple of limpets to hold it back from flapping.

Unfortunately, because our caravan is a Hobby with a knobbly style exterior, the limpet system won’t work as they need a smooth surface. I like the idea of the foam packing round the poles though but I’m just trying to picture in my head how to copy what Marg has suggested. Have you any photos please Marg?
We didn’t intend to buy a privacy / safari room as we have a large inflatable awning for when we are away for longer periods but we thought the roll out awning was great for short breaks away especially in hot weather when you like to sit in the shade. We didn’t measure it for the window because it wasn’t an issue when used as a sun shade. However, a preowned privacy / safari room came up for sale at a bargain price so we grabbed it thinking it was too good to miss.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and please keep them coming as I’m sure there must be a solution to this.
