We once had a dog called Bruno too, and he's now in our back garden since 1995 along with the others. Bruno was the only one who we had to raise the height of our back gate for, as despite not being very big he could clear the 4'6" gate without even touching it! I watched him do it once or I would never have believed it. All our dogs have been rescues, the last one (Benji, an Australian Terrier) being 5 years old when we took him on.

Our Bruno was a long haired GSD with floppy ears. We found him running around, nobody claimed him. He died aged 8 after an operation. He was a lovely dog but a total wuss.

I don't know what our Bruno was. His mother was brought into a rescue centre in Norfolk when we lived up there and she promptly had pups. There weren't two in the litter that looked alike. As soon as he was old enough we took Bruno home to live with us and our other dog Bekki who was about a year old. She mothered him despite never having had a litter of our own. We think Bruno was some kind of smooth-coated lurcher. Quite a bit smaller than a greyhound but bigger than a whippet. He lived to 16 as did Bekki, who died 6 months before him.
