On Dutch caravan-forum , I made pressure/ caravantotalweightlists per tyresise, and think its on this forum also usefull. Its only for single axle caravans but tandemaxle caravans devide totalweight by 2 first, before looking in the list.
I also made a caravan-tyrepressure-calculator , but some like it better to look it up in a list.

Made a paralleltopic to discuss and give sugestions for tyresises so keep this topic clean please.

https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=8&TopicID=364671

The list assumes 4% of totalweight on towbar, and rest on 2 tires using 90% of the loadcapacity belonging to the pressure. And for 160kmph/99mph . I determined this to give highest pressure , so highest reserve, without trembling the screws loose from the woodwork, or doors open after the ride.

So dont add reserves yourselves.

The reserves are needed for next.
1. Unequall load R/L.
2. Misyudging of totalweight, and other then 4% on towbar.
3. Pressureloss in time.
4. Inacurate reading of pressure, wich is worst case scenario higher then in real.
5. And what I forgot.

Mind that it gives max pressure, but by all these factors you can end up with only yust enaugh to prefent overheating of at least one tire. This is only allowed ZERO times in the use of the tyres.

React as little possible on this topic to keep it clean.
You can give me sugestions for sises by personal mail.

The pressure is to be filled cold ( so when in and outside the tire the temperature is the same. When hot outside for instance 37degrC/100degrF you have to fill higher, even if above referencepressure, because lesser cooling down of tyre rubber, so the lesser deflection the higher pressure gives, compensates that.
Nature aranges this itself, by heating up the tyre inside gascompound, the pressure rises by itself. So then never let out pressure, you risk overheating then.

When cold outside , the other way around, so you can do with the lower pressure you measure, when filled the right pressure at 20degrC/68degrF.
With this difference, that you may highen up to advice for reason of roadhandling and fuellsaving.

Here the list.
Use it like this.
Search the pressure you are going to use in the list, and remember or write down the degr/psi.
Then when filling at that 37 degrC, substract 20 degrC = 17 degrC , and devide this by head by the degr/psi, and fill that higher in psi.
Does not need to be super accurate.

But this list is originally made for tmps system users with external sensors, the give temperature at the end of the valve so colder then the tyre inside gascompound ( Air or Nitrogen), and with this list you can calculate the temp in tyre from the pressure rising by head while driving, acurate enaugh for the purpose.
But why should you, dont worry about it , and let tmps do what its made for, and that is warning for sudden pressure loss.

Here the list

DegrC/psi / psi for 20degrC =68degrF/ degrF/psi.

As first 185R14 102Q ( or higher speedcode) or 104N " for trailer use only" .
Sometimes given as 185/80R14
Can be used for every sise with 102Q or 104N AT 65psi, found 195/70R14 only in 104N AT 65psi, so this list also can be used for that sise.
These are called D-load/ 8 plyrated
The 185R14 also exists in XL/extraload /reinforced 95Q AT 44psi and 94Q AT 42psi, and normal car tyre 90Q AT 36 or 35psi, and probably also in "for trailer use only " with 2LI steps higher, but for those I will make seperate lists.

For trailer use only" has 2 loadindex steps higher then Q or more speedrated or higher ( R,S,T,H,V) because N speedrated is for max speed 140kmph/87mph calculated in max load. Q and Higher maxload is calculated for 160kmph/99mph, so lesser deflection.
But I calculate also the 104N as if it was a 102Q, to give it the same deflection as Q.

Use the list like this.
Determine the total weigt of Caravan.
Best is to weigh it per wheel and towbarweight and add this up.
Secondbest per axle or off the car in total on a public weightscale. In lack of that use the maximum permissable totalweight, or what it is called in the UK. But realise that many caravans are overloaded.

Then look this determined total weight back in the list, and read the pressure in front of it.
Example totalweight 1600kg.
66psi gives 1616kg, so yust above, use 66psi.
But because maximum reserve 65psi can do with 1593kg, only 7kg less.

Also above the referencepressure of 65 psi for this tyre is given, so if it comes to that, it says something about the poor reserve of tyre, or overloading, but you better use it for maximum reserve.
Not allowed anymore, unless the tyremaker also puts a maximum inflation pressure on sidewall like brands in the Continental groop do, then always 10 psi higher so here 75psi.
Mother nature though allowes it.

“ On Dutch caravan forum, I made pressure / caravan total weight lists per tyre size and think it’s on this forum also useful. It’s only for single axle caravans but twin axle caravans divide total weight by 2 first, before looking in the list.
I also made a caravan tyre pressure calculator, but some like it better to look it up in a list.
Made a parallel topic to discuss and give sugestions for tyre sizes so keep this topic clean please.”
It looks like a lot of work went into producing the list, though I’d have thought the information was available online already. It’s very difficult to read on an smartphone screen, however.

Tottaly agree what's the point. Tyre pressures are on the makers sticker with loading permissle weight.

I will remove the towbarweight to make it easyer to read on mobile, but if you turn the mobile to landscape, its all on one line.

But now the topic is not clean anym
ore, to prevent that I opened the paralelltopic .

I think too much information for most folks. If the objective is tyre safety that the average caravanner can understand then it needs to be simple.

There needs to be understanding. The first thing is a tyre of the correct load rating fitted ? So provide info on load ratings.

Next is condition of tyre. Age. Provide info on how to check age of tyre. Then a visual check of tyre. Cracks in tread or sidewall ?

Then tyre pressure. There are several caravan tyre pressure calculators online that can be linked to.

Tried to make it as simple as possible, but now many reactions here, so will stop with the lists, and use this topic to discuss .

Mayby late then I start a new topic with the lists.

I n next map on my onedrive that belongs to my hotmail-adress with username jadatis my made caravan-trailer tyrepressure calculator.
The language part , I made together with an Englisman called Garber on the forum I met him. So choose the english version or change the language above to English, and eventually set the weight-and speed-kind right below that.

Best is to download it to your computer or mobile, and use it there in an excell programme.

It works also in the claud, but then the next who opens it will see your chanches.

Mist calculators on internet also use 90% of the loadcapacity that belongs to the calculated pressure but protest if for instance total weight of caravan goes over the maxload of tyres together.
Mine yust gives higher pressure then what most think is maximum of tyre, but in fact is reference-pressure. But with a warning that weight is more then what tires are alliwed to carry, and give maximum speed to use, to an old ststem I once found.

In the former century and milenium, normal car tyres where used on caravans , and allowed 10% more maxload if referencepressure 10% higher, and I used that system, and max speed max 100kmph/62mph , wich I found also for C tyres for other percentages and other max speeds.

For speed I later found an other system, and that is by rule of tumb for every 10kmph/6.3mph different then reference-speed, 1 loadindexstep different, lower speed/higher loadindex, higher speed/ lower Load-index.
Already goes wrong for trucktyres where 2 LI steps for 10kmph.

And that I use in the lists here The 104N and 102Q thing I mentioned.
