I have a kampa air awning. Expecting winds of 40 gusts. Is it at all possible to just to leave pegs in situ. But drop all ropes and storm straps. And let air out. Rather than completely taking it down

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.

The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

If you’re talking about being out in Storm Arwen, stay safe. Never mind the awning - there’s a photo online of an (empty) caravan that blew down a street in Wales & ended up upside down in someone’s garden.

Probably the sensible option, ive seen awnings flip up and over a van, doing a fair bit of damage. Even though you dont have poles, the weight can do some harm to the awning rail if it flies around.

Many thanks. We are new to Caravanning. Not to sure how much wind speed is safe. Thought a an air awning was a bit safer. Thanks for your comments. All taken on board. At least we know now. Thank you

Moonfly, another bit of advise, if it is dry the day before you are due to leave take the awning down. 9 times out of 10 it will rain the day you are leaving or there will have been a heavy dew.

And it saves a lot of time on the day that you’re leaving.
