Just about EVERY awning 'manufacturer' (read brand) has a version of this awning, with the most subtle of differences! Can't help but feel they all originate in the same Chinese factory with just different branding stamped on them!

I've got a poled version branded Sunncamp, and find little to fault with it. It's so simple to erect that I don't think paying the substantial extra for the airbeam version is worth it. I did consider the airbeam version, but was looking for a cheap smaller lighter alternative to my larger airbeam awning and something easier to dry out when it got wet, and the difference in cost drove me towards the poled version. On reflection, choosing the poled version over airbeam was a smart move.

As a general opinion of the awning type, then it does everything you expect of it. Only comment really is that mine doesn't have any vent panels in the sidewall apexes, which would be good to provide a little better ventilation to control heat and condensation.

I'm not a big fan of air awnings. We bought one thinking it would be easier to erect than a poled one, but we didn't find it so at all. However, we are both in our 70s and both of us have back problems. I can't lift anything heavy above shoulder height.

The air awning came in one piece, and consequently it was HEAVY! We only used it twice before giving up with it and buying a second-hand, poled, full awning. It's twice the size of our air porch awning but we have no problem at all putting it up because it comes in several pieces, all of which are light. Once the roof is up I can do the rest on my own. If you are fit and strong an air awning would probably be no problem, but that isn't the case for us.

Best Regards,
Colin

You could well be right. However, if you can get 2 side by side, there will be subtle differences if they both have a different factory. Zip styles. Quality of stitching. Position of labels; will all be giveaways. And while they may be both 'Chinese factories', the finished quality can be stark when push comes to shove.

Get a Kampa 260 poled awning, will easily outlast an air awning.

Thank you for your comments, they are extremely helpful. We were going for the air awning thinking it would be easier for my husband to erect on his own. I am disabled and cannot always help him. That is really great information for us, thank you.😊

Because it's a single pole that has no contact with van it's so easy to fit. It's a light flexi fibre-glass pole section across the roof (fitted in a typical channel), with adjustable rigid steel sections down the sides that are free standing and require no threading through channels, just fit on ends of fibre glass roof pole, and a couple of clips to flysheet, bottom end locates on a pin at base of flysheet. Because it's all fitted in a slack state there is no fighting to get it all together, once it's assembled, you adjust the two steel side poles (they telescope, with a toggle locking clamp) to put the tension in it all.

I'm fortunately fit and able, the entire setting up of canopy must take me all of 10-12 mins on my own, then spend 20 mins putting the pegs in, but you can't escape that chore even with an airbeam!

I certainly wouldn't say don't go for the airbeam, but for my needs the cost saving of poles over airbeam was a deciding factor. Either way it's a smallish and quite lightweight awning, so the arguments about manhandling the heaviness of an airbeam (it's only 10Kg!) just don't really come into play on this one.
