I have a 2014 Ford Focus 1.25 and have a towbar fitted. I am looking for a caravan to tow, but after lots of Googling, I’m getting mixed messages and confusing myself!
My ID plate says gross train weight is 2130kg and gross vehicle weight is 1530kg. Am I right in saying that I can only tow max 600kg? Or is me and my other half getting in the car part of the 600kg? Meaning that I can actually tow a lot less?
Your calculations are correct. I didn't know that the Focus had a 1.25 engine in the range, is this car an automatic which would have a low towing weight?
Rob
PS Is this a Fiesta rather than a Focus? It sounds like you need a bigger, more powerful car.

Most trailer tents are around 350 to 400kg, folding campers tend to be around 750 to 900kg. The Dandy range as mentioned by Navver are mostly 500kg and are made of a material that can be packed away when damp.
Try looking at Dandy, Trigano, Raclet, Conway, Camplet and Combi Camp to see what you could tow, a caravan is definitely out of the question unless you change to a more powerful, heavier car.
