We have lost our 'spare 'caravan keys which is a real pain.Does anyone know how I would go about getting copies of a Coachman key which is suited for the caravan door and all the other locks ,also an Alko hitch lock .Can you get them copied at somewhere like Timpsons or do you have to go to Coachman and Alko /
Any ideas much appreciated.

well , i had some copied for my coachman, a few years ago, at Timpsons i think, they're just a flat key

I can’t help with the coachman but the Alko one can be tricky to get if you didn’t register your lock when you first bought it. If you registered it with Alko, you just phone them up, they confirm it is you and send you a spare key but if you didn’t register, still phone them and they will talk you through what to do. As far as I know, you can’t get them cut by a standard locksmith.

I do not think there is anything special about the hitch lock key. It is the one for the wheel lock that needs to be registered for replacement.

No reason why the caravan key and hitchlock key can not be cut by a local trader. Not too sure about Timpsons though. They repaired a pair of boots for me some time back and made a complete mess of it.

As they were your spare keys you should be able to get a number off the originals for the door at least. Caravan door keys can be bought on-line or at dealers as surprisingly there aren't many different ones. Failing that, yes, Timsons is your best bet.

Something worth thinking about for the future is key care. I have it for my car insurance. It costs me around £10 for the year. However I can buy extra tags off them for around £5 one off charge. Every key that is attached to one of those tags is covered if they get lost, stolen or damaged. Any claims do not affect my ncd. I have my car keys on one tag. My caravan keys on one and my house keys on one. I could also get extra tags for my partner’s keys as well if I wished to
