Hi all
My first caravan and i know i need to change tyres.
When i called a tyre garage they asked if there was any anti blow out metal on the wheel. He mentioned there is a rim of metal to help stabilise the caravan in an event of a blowout. I do not think this applies to me
Now i have gone through the documentation and can see nothing stopping a local garage from swapping the tyres over.
If the tyres have Tyron Bands fitted there will be a small round sticker at the inflation valve on the wheel.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

I think what the garage may have been referring to are 'Tyron Bands', these are retrofit items (not usually fitted at manufacture) that consist of a steel band that sits in the well of the rim and prevent a deflated tyre coming off the rim. They have to be removed before tyres can be replaced, that takes extra time and tools to achieve, many tyre fitters refuse to deal with them, or charge extra to do so.
They were quite a common aftermarket/dealer accessory a few years back. If you have Tyron Bands fitted, there should be a small sticker with 'TYRON FITTED' adjacent to the tyre valve, but it may have been omitted or been removed.
My caravan has them, and I struggled to find a local tyre fitter who either knew what they were and/or was prepared to replace tyres if fitted! Of the dozen or so dealers I tried, Kwik Fit mobile service (but NOT their tyre centres) was the ONLY tyre dealer I found who would deal with them, but at an extra charge of £10/wheel.
