I bought a new caravan from the NEC in February from Raymond James (dealer special Osprey 554). With a promise of April delivery. Then a call to say early May, from then on I was calling them twice a month until yesterday when I was told sometime in September. RJ has said it is not them its Elddis and parts supply. Usually when suppliers have parts problems they haven't paid their bills and are "on the stop". Hymer have taken over so would have thought that was a good move. I just keep being fobbed off. I tried speaking to Elldis but they will not talk to me it has to be done through RJ. I have tried to tell them that the van when delivered to me will be getting on for a year old and I dont want to bear the brunt of the depreciation. I feel like going to the show in October and be vocal on the Elldis and RJ stand. Oh they did tell me if I have my deposit back, if I try buy the same van in the Feb show it will go up by £5K.
Chas was the man who sold it to me from RJ.
Help and advice welcome.

It’s not just caravans taking time to come through, parts supply is affecting lots of industries, building supplies for one. My son has had a car on order for a good while now and still no sign of it.
I don’t see how there will be any depreciation issues as it will be new s and when you get it. That’s why used prices are still strong for many things as supply new is so restricted. As for prices new going up down the line, without a doubt they will. Supply out stripping demand.

These guys are notorious for dodgy tactics…. I had a battle with them earlier in the year. Kenny was the salesman. Would take my deposit back and avoid them like the plague; I did.
The salesman was probably being a bit (very?) optimistic in giving you an anticipated 2 month lead time for a new van.
It may (just may) be worth asking the dealer for a gesture of goodwill (say, a freebie thrown in) to say sorry for the misleading information given to you about the lead time.
It is not just parts (which everybody is having problems with) it is also labour problems (which is not just confined to this country).
Both apply to all sorts of things, cars, washing machines, fridges,vans...
As above, the van itself will be new with the full warranty whenever it is delivered to you.
There may be a newer model number than yours on sale by the time yours arrived (if that is what you meant by depreciation)- but that newer model number will almost certainly have the same delay in delivery and be more expensive.
It is also possible that by the time you get your van, the resale price may be more than you actually paid for it.....
For what it is worth, first half of July we enquired about a new car and were told the earliest delivery for a new order - March 2023. Possibly later.
Same story for friends who ordered a new MH at the start of the year. Given a May delivery, might now be September or October. They can still go camping so it’s not impacted on holidays.
I don’t think “being vocal” at the next NEC show will achieve much: if or when you get your deposit back, you’re back to square one - no caravan & starting the wait all over again with another dealer.
In my view, from feedback from other caravanning friends of mine that have dealt with Raymond James they are best avoided because they are one of those typical dealers that will take your money off you then break false promises. And it's not just the purchase of a new caravan either as someone bought a new caravan from them about 5 years ago and were told that if they have it serviced by them they will offer a good price as a trade in for their loyalty of having it serviced there. They did just that then wanted to trade it in after 3 years but were offered £2,000 less than what the seller wanted. They approached another local caravan dealer and were instantly offered £1,500 more than what Raymond James had offered which they accepted. So much for customer loyalty that Raymond James obviously don't have the courtesy to respect their previous customers and don't deserve the business.
I waited 6 months for my new Mini, but I was told that. It was a week late due to supply issues but they gave me free ceramic paint treatment as a goodwill gesture.I was kept informed of the progress and trade in price was fixed, it was on PCP. Due to the increase in value of the previous one I was able to have a new one for almost the same monthly payment.
We had a new kitchen in April, the company were having problems getting ovens and other appliances due to microchip shortages. The supplier was unable to give delivery dates for some models.
We did manage to get ours but the oven was a different model to the one ordered and cheaper.Happy wife!
Our Bailey dealer asked us if we would like to sell ours and order a new one when it was serviced in March.

Earlier this year my local Swift dealer had a yard full of new caravans in stock with prices in the window. How much do you want this specific caravan Chalkie ? From what I read on here Elddis is the last caravan I would buy & if the dealer is this unhelpful now how will the warranty work go ?
Is your present caravan ok ? I would get your deposit back start again & choose a different make at your leisure. Not much choice if you want UK built I suppose ? Just Bailey & Swift but from what I read on here both better than Elddis I would have thought ?
I can honestly say from personal experience, RJ are to be avoided at all costs. Dealt direct with the MD; only way to get my money back. An interesting experience to say the least…..
My present caravan was from Raymond James - Elddis Affinity 554 [2 fixed singles]. I have had 3 vans from them and they have provided a good service. They are relatively close to us and fixed the warrantee issue straight away.

If you think they are that good & you want that specific caravan then be patient then & you will presumably get it eventually ? If the caravan is not built yet then it will be the current model when it is built so I don’t know what you mean about it being a year old ?
Daf have hundreds of trucks parked at the side of the M61 all brand new all with parts needed to complete them. The guy who works for me ordered a Kuga in Jan this year, Delivery date is December
Why not ask them since your van is now coming in September can you not have a 2023 model as they come out in September, this way you should be financially better off from a RV point of view, No reason why they cant do that as yours hasn't been built yet

2023 model will be out in september, i think he's talking about that
Or do you suspect caravan is already built & awaiting parts to finish ? Then that is a different matter. If you don’t want last years model when next years is supposed to available then get your deposit back & leave it a couple of years until things get better perhaps ?
No I don’t think it is anything personal or Elddis not paying suppliers & about to go bust. As pointed out there is a world wide shortage of electronic parts. It could be a part for the fridge is not available so Elddis cannot get fridges. Anything like that. Nobody will have any firm delivery dates for parts so nobody can even hazard a guess when your caravan will be delivered. You could be told it is ready at very short notice.
Example. I ordered a new car October last year. Expected a long wait & said March 1st this yr would be good. Even in the last days of Feb dealer had no clue as to delivery date. Then few days later phone call to say car was in country & would be at dealers in 2 days. So from knowing zero at end of Feb to driving car off forecourt on March 9th. Salesman told me car was already worth more than I had paid for it.
Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury have quite a lot of new Coachman vans, some Swifts and a few new motorhomes. The Coachman are pretty pricey!
A Bailey the same age and model as ours (2018) was up for more than we paid new.
