Hi this is my first post due to frustration. I have a Coschman Vision which is 3 years old. I have had numerous problems including damp on the bathroom side twice, the boiler did not work on 2 occasions which meant we had no hot water or heating. The touch pad has stuck twice which caused real problems. Now when we came back from a trip in June we found a crack straight through the support for the cupboards above the fridge. Coachman do not want to know as it is just out of warranty by 2 months. It is obviously a manufacturing defect and I am worried what could happen. Has anyone had the same problem. First post in 8 years and your profile is stated that your outfit is a folding camper and yet your post is in connection with a 3 year old Coachman Vision which is a caravan. However, I can't see how the warranty is out of date by 2 months because the caravan is just 3 years old which all new caravans usually come with a 5 year warranty. The reason why Coachman don't want to know is because you need to go back to the dealer where you bought it from as your contract is with the dealer and not the manufacturer.

First and foremost, your contract is with the dealership that supplied the caravan and not with Coachman. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you for a period of 6 years from date of purchase however after the initial 6 months it is up to the consumer to prove that the fault existed from day one.

I am not entirely sure about your reference to a crack. What does the dealer say about the crack and have they offered a reason why it has cracked? I have a crack on the front panel of our 2018 caravan and after using CRA 2015 the dealer and the manufacturer have agreed to replace the front panel. I used Which Legal Services fro advice and quoted their advice to dealership.

I can help further but need more details.

Coachman unfortunately are like many other businesses out there, in that once they have a sizeable wad of money from you they don't want to know.

Have dealt with Coachman Customer Services before and the treatment and attitude from them is disgusting.

I personally would never buy another Coachman caravan ever again!

has the coachman been serviced every year, then get the dealers to claim against coachman, if its missed services then its down to dealers to sort.

As Ian has said, your contract is with the dealer as you are their customer, I would push them more.

Hi thanks for your reply. The dealer did say in June when we had a fault with the boiler that the Caravan was out of warranty as it ran out at the end of March. I did state that we have been in a pandemic for 18 months and most companies extend their warranty. They told me the same as Coachman that they were only closed for 2 weeks never mind that we could not travel. Anyway thank you for pointing out my profile I will change it now👍

it look like some kind of stress fracture.. the panel has been under some kind of load and has broken.. fridges can be very heavy things.. more so when full of food and bottles of liquid.. they try and bounce up and down with road shocks..

Sadly for the dealer the Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you for SIX years and not 3 years. However after the first 6 months it is up to the consumer to prove that the fault is inherent and was there at time of purchase.
Has dealer stated why the crack has appeared? You could always put in an insurance claim and when the assessor checks the caravan they will give you a verdict and probably state that it is not accidental damage and is due to a defect in the material which has existed since day one.
Either way you need an independent report from an AWS technician regarding the crack to be able to take it further.
In addition it may be wise to join Which Legal Services for expert consumer advice. They gave us good advice and on two different occasions we took on the dealer and the financial house and were successful.
By the way if the caravan is on finance your contract is with the finance house as they own the caravan and your contract would be with the finance house. It is then up to the finance house to resolve the issue.
