We keep blinds up to protect the springs and I u understand that if it's very sunny the heat build up between the blind and window can damage the window. We do close the curtains and roof blinds which are not sprung.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

In a large secure and accredited storage yard with 300 or so vans, you don't think that by the law of averages there will not be someone a little shady who would take an interest in the contents of your van? ... and they would have legitimate access to the compound!
I would say No. Nefarious persons rarely stretch to paying for caravan storage. And the ones that do pay; i sincerely believe they will not know where any surviellence is coming from. Especially if it was a 'large, accredited yard' - and no doubt expensive. Nor, i believe, could they handle the shame and ignominy of being caught red-handed' kicked off, and likely prosecuted. That isnt the usual caravanner i come across.
To date, ive never had anything stolen from a van, an awning, or even a pitch - ever. As in the main, i see caravanners as generally honest. Or at least on the sites i select.
Our van has blinds that pull up from the bottom, and mesh window covers that pull down from the top.
I'm not sure if there is any springs involved, they seem to rely on friction to hold in place (which makes them quite stiff to move).
I suppose we could just pull each one half way.
In fact, we actually close the blinds.
Come to think of it, I have never tried drawing the curtains in this van, and am not even sure there is enough material to cover the whole window.
We have a bit of old bedsheet cut to size and pegged to the underside of the pelmet, bedsheets allow heat to disperse better than cardboard or using the blinds.
