Morning all, having been with Clubcare for a few years now, thought I'd have a shop around to see if we could get an equivalent cheaper policy.

Had a look at some past posts to get some ideas for companies.

Towergate, wouldn't quote us as our storage is only insured for 5 vans, said this was too few caravans.

Cover4caravans, gave us a cheaper quote by £20, however unlike Clubcare they wouldn't place 2 storage places on policy, our home and storage we use. They insisted on 24hour notice whenever we brought the caravan home. We use the van about 6/7 times a year and bring home before and after trips.

Comparison sites were stating 'no claims bonus', upon talking to one company, they advised that there isn't a no claims bonus for caravans but there is a discount for number of years' experience of towing, also told that if you have legal protection with your car insurance policy, you don't need to have this with caravan insurance.

Although we don't have membership with CACC, their Clubcare insurance for us seems tops again.

Used Caravanguard for years now.      . Will never touch Towergate again after their unscrupulous dealing. I paid caravan insurance with them in a lump sum for 12 months. After 10 months they informed me my insurance had a month to go. I had the certificate which date stated I still had 2 months to run.Even though I had it in Black&White they still maintained I only had 1 month left. So if you want to pay for 12 months insurance and only get 11 months they are your people.

We never had any issue when we made a claim through Towergate. Repairs were authorised within a week and caravan repaired within 2 weeks. However they have now priced themselves out of the market.

I changed for club care a few years ago and now use caravanguard. Remember to tell them you are a ukcampsite member. I got another discount for that.

Of course, I have not had the need to make a claim so can not say what they would be like in those circumstances.

We use Ripe. Half the price of caravan club for the same cover.

My caravan insurance with Saga was up for renewal in October and people always advise to shop around for a better deal. Our caravan is a 2004 model so don't expect to pay over £100 which Saga renewal price was £85.00 so I did a quotation with Caravan Guard who wanted £218.00 and ClubCare insurance was even slightly more. I refused to waste any more time trying to get a better deal so just continued with Saga.

That is the whole point of this. Others can only tell of their own experience with companies. The cost of premium will vary widely, just a question of shopping around.
What others can tell, however, is of personal experience with the different insurance companies

We always check claim history as all of them are so nice when taking your money.

We have used Cover4caravan for several years.

Being a bit nerdy, I do the comparison amongst insurers each year. They have come out best for our needs each time. The club insurances tend to be much higher.

Unlike the OP,our caravan is kept in a locked heated garage at home when not in use.

Different companies seem to be better for different requirements

We've been with ClubCare for quite a few years now, although I routinely do a comparison every year. They always come out the best. Our premium isn't very much though as our caravan is 30 years old. Some insurers won't even quote me due to the caravan's age.

I used to insure my tow-car with them when I had my Volvo V70 as they were very competitive, but when I changed my car their prices went through the roof! I got it insured elsewhere for less than half what they quoted me, yet the insurer I went with had always quoted me a ridiculous price when I had the Volvo. I will never understand insurance companies!

We insure through Adrian Flux. Recently we had a very quick resolution.

So update.
We've gone with SAGA this year, their price was cheaper than Clubcare, only difference being we had 30 days european cover, which weve never used. Kept getting stumped with the online drop down options for some of the questions, so phoned a few. Seems NCB is a thing, so that was a false statement given to me.
Very helpful person on phone with SAGA.
