For those who have taken out caravan insurance with Ripe Insurance, underwritten by Aviva Insurance.
Please check if you have Public Liability Insurance on your Schedule. If so then go to the Insurance Booklet Section 4, page 15 “What is NOT covered” No 13. Liability when the Caravan is attached to a towing vehicle or if it became detached when being towed!!
Seems pointless in having Public Liability cover, I guess a high percentage of accidents causing damage to a 3rd party’s property would normally be when the caravan is being towed.
Your car insurance covers third party damage while a caravan is being towed or becomes detached whilst towing.
Third party liability is only applicable when the caravan is sited or at home.
I never insured my caravan when I purchased it new and saved in excess of £4000 in premiums over the 15 years I had it.

Yes, as stated above, completely normal. Whilst under way third party claims are covered under the towing vehicle's insurance (double check your car policy includes this, but it's unlikely it doesn't)
