Hi all. Hoping someone can help please. Our 2019 Elddis affinity 550 kitchen tap has succumbed to the frost. I thought that I had got all the water out of the system following our last trip out (beg nov) but it seems not. I’m assuming that there was already a weakness as it has literally broken in two!
I have looked at the manual and it says that it is a domestic tap - does that mean I can replace it with any tap? What is the easiest way to get access to change it? If it’s fridge removal am I best asking our mobile engineer due to the gas?
Thanks in advance
I'm not familiar with your van, so can't really answer your question, but take another look at your manual and ensure spelling says DOMESTIC (as in household), not DOMETIC (which is a trade brand name, common on specialist caravan fittings!). Don't think I've ever seen a ordinary domestic tap in a caravan, apart from the plumbing fittings being different, they are generally very heavy brass compared with usual caravan taps which are lightweight plastic bodies, even though they are often chromed and appear to be metal.
Replacing a tap in itself is generally not too difficult a job, getting access to do the change can be an entirely different story! Removing appliances such as fridges/cookers is far from an uncommon need!
If removal of appliances and disconnection of gas/electrics is necessary then best left to a professional unless a very competent knowledgeable DIYer, and your questions suggest you are not!
Good luck.

Thanks for your response - it definitely says domestic style not dometic. You’re right that I’m not a competent diyer but my hubby and son are both engineers (not gas though) so they’re very equipped to change a tap - I was just concerned about the gas element of it. Your thoughts would be gratefully received. Thanks. Clair
I had a problem that meant I needed to remove the kitchen tap and I had to remove the sink to gain access to the fittings, not a big job but ity was fiddly getting a long socket on the nut, but at least I didn't have to do anything like remove the fridge.
When it mentions 'domestic tap' I think it it means that yours is a pressure controlled system, ie, there are no additional microswitches fitted to the taps that run the pump as in the older system.
Mixer taps are many and varied, just try and get one with the same fittings as before and that fits the same hole size.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I had to change ours on our van a few years ago, which invloved removing the sink unit to get at the pipes and tap fitting.
Not easy but well within the scope of a DIY'er. I did this whilst on site might i add. Got the replacement tap from a local Caravan shop to where were staying.
