We have just been trying to book a Caravan & Motorhome club site pitch for a few days in April. We tow our 7.2 metre caravan with a Citroen van which is 5.2 metres long. Their booking form comes up as saying "Outfit is too long for pitch type" If we change from towing with my Citroen van to towing with a car of the same length, no problem. Are they anti towing with vans? It seems to be coming a quite popular option these days.
The new CAMC website seems to be riddled with flaws which have existed from the disastrous launch and still keep surfacing, so this may just be another one! I'm not aware of any ban on vans, but then I use a regular car to tow with so not looked too hard for the signs.
I'd verify the suitability of your van direct with your chosen site, and then slam in a complaint about the web site to head office if it turns out your van is acceptable.
CAMC need their backside kicking, both the new website and mobile app are awful compared with what they replaced! - Oh, don't expect them to fall over themselves to appease a 'whinging' member, they believe in themselves too much these days, and members don't seem to count for much!

I don't bother with them, don't use Club sites anyway. CL booking doesn't seem to be working either. I just contact the sites direct. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Just put 'car' in and go. There is no category for my - pushing six metre, truck. So that is what i use. Along with my van that is 7.4m, i am 'longer' than you all around.
Been caravanning 50 years in a few weeks and only ever put caravan size in any site wether a club site or commercial. Always fill in 7x5 m wether using awning or not, nobody ever queried.

Thanks for replies. I don't recall being asked for towing vehicle details before but we don't want to turn up & be told by the site warden, "you've not registered correctly, we don't want you here", or similar. Well phone tomorrow to check.

The details they ask for are the same as if you are booking ferries. They asked for date of birth for myself and my wife. Why? They have mine which load automatically but to put my wife's in I had to use the stupid calender which takes forever to tap back the years It won't let you simply type it in
I wonder if the whizzkids that design these things actually ever think about the user.

It's about as user unfriendly a web site as I've encountered in a long time! It's very clumsy in it's layout and use!
As to car dimensions, they always asked for car reg in past which would have enabled them to look up the vehicle details, but I fail to see the need for UK bookings where it's mostly irrelevant.
When I was trying to book, I was more interested in the day than the date, and had to scroll all the way from Nov back to Jan to find out which day certain dates fell on as the Day heading was only at the start of the calendar listing - BRILLIANT bit of web design - NOT! You almost need a separate calendar to work out your booking dates!
Overall impression of the club as a whole, is that they are remodelling themselves as a foreign travel agency, with UK holiday members interests being pushed into the background and suffering from irrelevant data gathering as a consequence!
C&CC only ask for the dimensions of the caravan so that's all I ever give them.
As for calendar I always use the one at the bottom right of my screen, but I don't know whether later versions of Windows still have one there. I'm still on Windows 7.
My wife phoned them today to query the issue & the nice lady on the phone said its an IT issue that we know about. Just book in as a car & then phone us up before you travel & well change it to a van. What a right palaver.
We've had exactly the same issues with booking with CAMC.
We tow our Bailey Valencia with a Ford Transit Custom van (not sign written) and it won't allow us to book in with the van.
We tend to book it and then email the site direct and ask/advise.
Also when booking any private site we always make them aware that we will be towing with our van. All have been OK (so far!).
Good luck with the crappy CAMC system!
