HI guys
Is it OK to leave the motor motor engaged after set up on pitch .Or it is advisable to disengage ,just wondering if it damages mm if it is constantly engaged.

i leave mine engaged for shortish time periods.. maybe a day or even two i dont think it does any harm and it makes a very secure parking brake..

Instructions recommend disengaging the motor mover. We have never ever left it engage as it can also deform the tyre although the tyre will recover quickly when moving.

My Powrtouch MM instructs to disengage units after use and NOT leave engaged. AFAIK, all other brands recommend disengaging after use.

Doubt that the MM would actually suffer, but certainly not beneficial to leave under heavy static strain.

The tyres on the other hand would almost certainly suffer a semi-permanent deformation that would likely work it's way out once back on the road and done a few miles, but before that they'll be 'flat spotted' and cause excessive/unnecessary vibrations in your van! Also risk if they are ageing and losing flexibility that cracking may start to appear at the deformation point.

For such a quick and simple operation to disengage, not worth the risks IMHO.

I always disengage mine after I have finished using them.

Well I go against the grain here and always leave it engaged.
Have done so on every caravan we've had with no ill effects.

I it Keep engaged till I have it level then chock up both sides apply hand brake, then disengage your motor mover

I don't think any harm would be done by leaving the mover engaged, but I just never have. I think when we bought a caravan that had a mover installed I just felt that it might harm the tyres to leave it engaged so I never have. Maybe it doesn't?

I would think that while the MM is engaged there is a constant strain on the MM as it is holding the caravan in place. This may shorten the life of some components. we prefer not to take the chance and be lazy about not removing it as it only takes seconds to engage or disengage.

I'd agree. It cant do the bearings on the rollers any good being under pressure all the time. And, we often hear of MM's 'not working' when it comes to needing them. I'd rather have mine not working when its disengaged, than wedged against the tyres.
