Hi,
We’ve just bought a Bailey Pegasus Grande Turin.
We’re now trying to find an awning for it. We want an air awning but when looking they all seem to state a size in terms of height (ie, suits 235-250cm) but when looking up the necessary awning size on the Bailey site, it states 1077cm ??
What does this 1077cm relate to as it’s obviously not the height of the van, very confused!

The 1077 length will be the length needed to fit your van which is measured from the ground around the awning rail and down to the ground the other end, hope this helps.

Thank you, that makes perfect sense.
So if an awning says suitable for 235 to 250cm, is that the height of the awning rail they are talking about or the height of the caravan?

It's the height of the awning rail,I see you want an air awning just a word of warning it will be mighty heavy and mighty expensive if you can find one that size, we use a kampa/Dometic 400 all season porch awning and that is too heavy for us so selling that and going back to the poled ones.

Oh really that's interesting?
We are going to be on a seasonal pitch but awnings can't be left on whilst you're not there so thought the air awning would be quicker than traditional poles.
The one I'm looking at is a Kampa Air Ace 400, so guessing that will be heavy too?

exact same one we have on our caravan! its not too bad, i wouldnt want to be having to lift it over my head tho, but even i can move it so hubby can get it out the caravan door, he then puts it up on his own with all panels in place as itd a bit of chew on getting all 5 of them back in the zips

That is the one we have but it is an all season one. It depends how strong you are, we are oldies and at best 1 and a half people as I have health problems so not always a lot of help, best to go and see one and see how heavy it is. The easiest and best (in our experience) is the kampa/Dometic rally pro poled version we had the 390 and the 260 the PRO has much thicker material,that one we can put up a lot quicker and Rob can put that up on his own.

We love our air awning, and have just sold our new porch awning we bought after using it last time we went away as thought it was just as quick to put up our 3.9m air awning. We always take the panels out though, which makes it lighter as I’m a bit obsessive when I fold it up. We work as team, one pulls and one feeds it through the awning rail then So quick to inflate. Never had a problem. I’m late fifties (women) and can carry the bag on my own. Ours is a Kampa/Dometic.

I couldn't agree more. We bought an air porch-awning thinking it would be easier to put up than a poled one like we'd had before and found quite the opposite. My wife and I, both pensioners with back problems, really struggled with it and gave up after the second use. I can't lift anything even moderately heavy above shoulder height. We then bought a full poled-awning which is massive, but comes in 5 pieces plus the poles. I could put that up entirely on my own if it weren't for bits catching on things like the awning light as I pull the roof section through the awning rail. My wife just flicks those bits over the obstructions then goes off to put the kettle on while I put the rest of it up. It's very easy.

The air awning we bought, which was much smaller, came all in one which made it too heavy for us. A young fit couple could probably mange it a lot easier than we did though.

Thank you for all your replies.
They clearly aren’t for everyone then. I’m a fairly fit 52 and my wife is a personal trainer so I’m hoping we can manage it between us. We’ve actually bought the van from a dealer and haven’t picked it up yet so I’ve sent him a message to ask if he could measure the height of the rail for me.
