Think I'd opt for the 100Ah over the 80Ah battery too. Yes it will work with the 80Ah, but if you are absolutely dependent upon the MM then that extra capacity gives peace of mind, and only an extra maybe £20 on an overall spend of around £1400! You have to take into account the battery will lose capacity as it ages, so starting on a just adequate battery means possible earlier replacement as it becomes unable to cope with the load.
Never really tried to physically move my 1.3 tonne van on my own, but suspect I'd struggle at best and be impossible in many circumstances, so the MM is probably essential to me, think the peace of mind is worth a few extra pounds on the bigger battery.
The £150 price quoted for a 100Ah battery is a bit high, sub £100 available, circa £120 reasonable. Again the MM is also a bit pricey, a few places offering the well respected Powrtouch Evolution Auto model for circa £1200 fitted. Really worth shopping around, £hundreds to be saved.
I've a Powrtouch Evolution on my much heavier van, with a 100Ah battery, and despite heavy use on occasions (moving significant distances around storage yard) and the usual depletion of battery in storage, when checking the battery (with a sophisticated battery condition meter, not just a voltmeter) it has never shown much sign of being heavily discharged by the MM use. Think the capacity is there to go off grid for a few days and still have enough power to get back into storage bay without any problems.
I've a partially knackered (it's old) 75Ah battery that I use on the van when I take the 100Ah home to charge properly, now that still moves the van OK, BUT is does show a significant discharge after doing so, so the health/capacity of the battery does matter.
If buying a battery, DO check the dimensions of the locker, batteries vary in dimensions from brand to brand, some may fit whereas others won't, and allow space for the connectors and cables. Also good practice to have a battery tray in the locker to contain any acid spills (uncontained acid leakage can do SERIOUS/expensive damage!), so allow space for that too.
