I have a swift archway sport 2015. My fridge will not turn on. I’ve checked the fuse board and the number 12 fuse which is a 5 amp is blown. I’ve put a new one in and it’s blown again straight away.
The number 12 fuse is labelled. Electronics/fridge/alarm
Any ideas as to what may be causing this and how to rectify please, any help would be gratefully received as we are in Cornwall with a fridge full of food😩
If a fuse has blown it is usually a sign of a short circuit somewhere. First you need to turn everything off then turn them on again one at a time until the fuse blows again. That way you will have identified the item that is causing the fuse to blow.
Does the fridge work on gas or Mains? if the 12 volt side of it is faulty it will be only on the control side as the fridge itself does not run off the leisure battery.

Does your fridge have the option to put in AA batteries to run the controls?
Assuming this is your problem and controls are not working because the fuse is blown.

If you have the fridge or caravan handbook it may have some information on problem solving. There should be a sticker on the fridge giving the make and model. This might help others to offer advice.
Fuses blow if as stated there is a short circuit drawing excess current.
The fuse is for electronics( not terribly helpful ) and alarm too.
On our van the 12v for the fridge supplies the internal light and ignition for gas as far as I know.

My guess would be that the 12 volt heating element for the fridge has blown and shorted out. If possible disconnect the supply wire to it and see if the fuse still blows. Also check to see if there is anything obvious like a blown patch on the PCB or frayed wire.

Surely the 12 volt side of the fridge (apart from the control circuits) runs off the car, not the leisure battery.
