We recently purchased (private sale) a 2019 Compass Camino 660. Lovely van except the rooflight over the bed has developed a leak - oh and also one of the front windows now. Our caravan service man checked the rooflight - he said it was ok outside and when he removed the internal cover, the wood was completely dry all round. He felt it was a combination of the rain and direction of wind and somehow the water was coming through the ventilation slots. It's all down one end, where the flyscreen sits when closed - this was sodden. Has anyone else experienced this please. We now seem to have also developed a leak in one of the front windows. Can anyone tell me, if the van is not 100% level, could that affect the window. It's only very slightly off being completely level, which our service man said wasn't a problem - in fact was probably helping by allowing the rain to run off to one side. Any thoughts, gratefully received.
The rooflight surround needs to be replaced. It is a known fault. We have a 2018 Buccaneer that had the same issue, but we were lucky and it was repaired under warranty.
The incorrect adhesive was used in manufacture and did not allow for flexing and the surround cracks. On ours the crack was a dead straight line. Unclip the vented covers on the surround to check for the crack.
For a fix, the whole surround needs to be removed, the old adhesive scraped away, new flexible type adhesive needs to be used and then a new surround costing about £200 needs to be fitted. A bit more if an Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS) technician fits the surround, but the you get a warranty. Taking into account the cost of the caravan we would opt for the AWS technician to do the replacement. You do not need the whole unit, just the surround.
In the meantime use a suitable sealant to make a temporary fix and dry out the area where the leak has occurred. The temporary fix may last a few months before it opens up again due to the caravan flexing. Even if you replaced the adhesive with the proper stuff and refit the surround, the temporary fix will probably still crack again a few months later.
As an aside if the caravan has had servicing kept up to date, you can transfer the remainder of the 6 year damp ingress warranty to yourselves for a small fee.

Thank you so much - that is very helpful. Silly question, but who do I contact to get the warranty transferred to me.
You would need to contact the manufacturer Elddis directly as they will have a record of all servicing.

I have 2 new Heki plastic surrounds put in and new roof boards due to the crack in the surround, both under warranty.
Sadly they bought privately so will probably need to bear the cost themselves as warranty work will only be done by the original supplying dealer.
