Has anyone had any dealings with Elddis re trying to get work done under warranty. We purchased a 4 year old Compass Camino which not only has a leaking rooflight and related damp, but also had a hinge bar repair (which foolishly we hadn't investigated prior to purchase). However, two months prior to purchase and a few months after the repair, a damp report identified that 'no damp was found'. Long story short, Elddis are saying this was a failed repair, which I can understand, but have totally ignored the leaking rooflight and other areas of damp - basically we bought a pig in a poke! I just wondered if anyone has had any favourable dealings with Elddis re warranty.
Typical Elddis response many have had the same. Had 2 leaking ones both under 2 years old. Have bought nothing other than Swift vans since and had good customer service. Did the caravan have full service history when you bought it

Nothing to do with Elddis as your contract is between yourself and the dealer unless of course you bought privately. You need to go back to the dealership and get them to rectify any issues. When exactly did you buy the caravan as that is important of you want the issue resolved?
I'm interested in this as I took my 4 year old Elddis Avante in to be serviced two weeks ago. The dealer phoned to say that there is damp above the front windows. I said that must be covered by warranty. I am now waiting to see what happens.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

Our Elddis caravan is now 6 years old however at it sixth service in Oct damp was picked up and the work was done under warranty by the dealer. We collected the repaired caravan yesterday. Under CRA 2015 your contract is with the dealership and it is the responsibility of the dealership to resolve the issue even if Elddis reject the claim.
I'm pleased to say that we eventually found an Elddis approved workshop who would actually contemplate doing the work (we bought the van privately secondhand). Following their assessment and submission of a claim, Elddis did agree that work to the two rooflights (and associated staining) could be carried out under warranty. As for the 'failed repair', we'll just bite the bullet. Hopefully, your damp will be sorted under warranty - in theory there's no reason it shouldn't as it should still be covered. Such a shame that there's any need for all these damp repairs.
My situation has become more interesting. I had a phone call from the dealer today. They are closing at the end of the year and Elddis will transfer the warrenty to another dealer.
I feel sad for the staff at the dealers who are facing unemployment,

Any of them worth their salt might consider setting up as mobile engineers, or maybe even opening their own premises. They have to know how much work is out there. It'd be a no-brainer for me, knowing a gap had appeared in the local service area.
A popular dealers closed in Bradford a year or two ago. ( i think they retired). Unbelievably, nothing new has arisen to replace it. (not sure about mobile guys?) This now means owners travelling way further than they used to for work to be done, to such as Leeds, Huddersfield, or Preston way.
Following on from my previous post re the damp problems with our Compass Camino and having eventually found an Elddis approved workshop, it's getting beyond a joke. They've had the van since middle of May and still nowhere near completion. Two Elddis approved workshops declined the work, hence us having to arrange for the van to be towed from our seasonal pitch in Cornwall, up to Hampshire. I'm not sure how Elddis can stipulate the workshop needs to be approved by them, when no-one wants to do the work! I'm losing the will to live as we've lost most of the summer season.

You bought privately and Elddis have NO say who who will do the repairs. It is up to the individual workshop to decide as the workshop will prioritise their own customers over foreigners. This applies to ANY brand.
My Elddis is now nearly 6 years old and I've decided not to bother with Elddis for any warranty work but I'll do it myself. Quicker and as they tell me the nearest approved dealer is now 170 miles away I will save money (My local dealer closed last year)

Thanks for your reply. However, as some of the work is being carried out under warranty, Elddis DO have the right to say who should carry out the repairs. The workshop agreed to take on the repairs (some of which we are paying for and some under warranty) but little did we know that three months later we'd still be without a van - there was no mention of prioritisation, although I suspect we're being put to the bottom of the pecking order as warranty work is probably not as profitable as private work.
Hi John4703 - I can quite understand why you're not bothering with any work under warranty - it's more trouble that it's worth! And like you, the nearest approved workshop was about 170 miles away. I should have just stuck to my Heath Robinson repairs.

I will be learning a lot about the caravan. I've done a few repairs and next I need to remove the front windows and refix the bar above them. I just want a warm dry day when I have time.

They received the parts back in February,so that didn't lead to the delay. My understanding is that less and less workshops are willing to undertake warranty work as the hourly rate paid by Elddis is much less than the rate that would normally be charged for private work. No wonder there's so few approved workshops around.
