What a stupid concept, why from the age of 60 do you get a discount these should be open to everybody for the same times and dates regardless of age.
It’s funny because every time I go on a campsite it’s always people aged 60+ Ghat are driving round in 80 grand motorhomes the younger people with families Are usually in older caravans.

Bessie

We are over sixty and not sure why you think every one over sixty is wealthy? We certainly do not have a 80k motor home etc so we appreciate any age related discounts from anyone not just a campsite.

I never said everyone over 60 is wealthy, what I have said is the discount should be the same right across all age groups, I’m sure many people of all age groups would like the 25% off at certain times of the year.

They do offer a range of discounts available to everyone, on certain sites and certain times of the year. I got an email about them a couple of weeks ago and they are on the website.

Surely if it weren't restricted to a certain group it would not be a discount as such, it would simply be a price reduction. Not a bad thing anyway as I think their prices are too high. I would have thought that belonging to a club meant that you got reduced rates compared to elsewhere, but that doesn't appear to be so. Going with a commercial site often works out cheaper for us.

One of the main reasons for that is that C&CC has a 3 tier system whereas most commercial sites only have 2. Consequently our favourite periods, first two weeks of July and first week of September, fall in mid-season with C&CC but low-season with most commercial sites. As C&CC's mid-season is hardly any cheaper than peak-season, they nearly always work out dearer for us than commercial sites. I'd like to see them scrap mid-season altogether. That would probably help all.

From the original post it was purely the age related discounts that were discussed, nobody mentioned at that time other offers.

I agree they should reduce of campsites down, the problem with changing three seasons down to 2 would be they will just extend the peak season.
Don’t forget Scottish school holidays start in July that’s the reason why they will put these dates up, Me personally I’d rather go in July as it tends to be drier than August

We tend to go in July too, usually at some point during the first two weeks as these tend to be regarded as low season on commercial sites, as is September. Only the second two weeks of July and the whole of August are regarded as high season by most of them, along with Easter and sometimes half terms, when we never go away anyway. We avoid all school holidays and bank holidays. We don't tend to take our caravan up to Scotland, so the difference there wouldn't affect us much. I wonder if C&CC sites would attract more custom from people like us if they adopted the same seasons as commercial sites. We would certainly use them if they were cheaper, but usually they are not.

Colin I think they would get more custom all round if they was to reduce all the prices down, last year at Easter and October half term the campsites where I was on were very very quiet compared to normal, Clumber Park at the reduced the warden numbers down due to the lack of customers.
They must be losing a fortune after the price increases that have been implemented.
With the cc the closer to the holiday the more expensive it is if you haven’t booked it already

Yes I think you are probably right Bessie, they would probably get more custom if they reduced their prices. Best thing in my opinion would be to scrap their mid-season rates and make that low season like most of the commercial sites who only have low and high.

I've never noticed any change in prices the closer you get though. I often start looking up prices and options in early spring, but never book anything until sometimes only days before. We rarely go away before late June or early July.
