hi guys, im relatively new to caravanning and am experiencing a strange electrical issue. occasionally after arriving on site i can not get 12v systems to work, and the voltmeter above the door reads 0v. the battery is relatively new, and has charge when checked with a voltmeter, this is also kept topped up via solar panels on the roof, the solar read out shows that the battery charge is good. if i plug the caravan back into the cars hook-up for a couple of seconds, everything seems to spring back to life and all is then good for the weekend. im assuming maybe the consumer unit under the seat is on its way out? thanks in advance.
If no 12 volt works after towing to a site it is most likely the habitation relay not making good contact. This isolates the caravan 12 v whilst tow car connected( regulations). So if contacts are burnt or mucky then when tow car disconnected not switching the 12 v back on. This relay varies with location depending on makes and model of caravans.

What Birdman 101 said. Sounds like a stuck relay after disconnecting from the car. Most times they are found under the front area of a caravan where the towing electrics come through the floor.
